Be Afraid (Marcus from the UK) Minis sent, No minis back

Post by Valistar »

Was contacted for a trade for old miniatures in a picture for IG. Miniatures where picked from the image specificly. Links to image and image of my mailing recipt included. If they arrive and have customs dates on them as how they where held etc. I will of course remove this complaint and post. All old Marauder and etc.

well, for those metal fellows in bottom pic, i can give you a full platoon

junior officer, medic, 2 plasma guns and either ( ur choice ) another special wep. ( can be plasma ) or a vox.

2 10 man squads with a special wep, sarg and lascannon OR mortor/missle launcher in each.

also, if you are interested, i'd sell you another 2 sets like the above, a voistroyan command squad and a sentinal w/ multilaser for $150 ( this army cost me £200 ( about $ 350-400 ) so i wouldnt really wanna go much lower, i'll throw in the guard book aswell !

I just had a package arrive from the UK. From his door to mine took all of 6 days. He sent it via airmail. If yours is on a boat it may take awhile.

I do understand that, and have even elsewhere after much research heard of packages geting stuck for a year, and if thats the case and I do recive my goods approperately. I will clearly remove this and put it up to a web of red tape.

Your last posted PM is from June 12.
Dude... That's over 5 months ago.
Have you even tried to contact him SINCE then?

Don't get me wrong... I feel for you... Whether or not you've ACTUALLY been scammed is yet to be seen, but the situation suckes, either way.
Truth is, though, that if your last PM to him was in June, you haven't kept up your side of the deal by staying in constant communication.

For all we know (without more info), he might have gotten the stuff from you, assumed you got his stuff (since you didn't say anything), and just be ticked off at you for not leaving the positive ref he feels he deserves (since, in this HYPOTHETICAL situation, he presumes you got the models since you didn't say anything).

If it IS the case, that you haven't PMed him since June, then I'd like to point out that you may not have a valid complaint, per BTown rules (IIRC, there's one regarding the time fram you have in which to report a BTR). This can have dire circumstances (read: account temporarily suspended).

If there HAVE been communications from you (whether answered by him or not), I suggest you post them now, just in case.

Good luck!

Eric

I have gotten no responses sense may 20th, at all nor has there been any activity from the individual. Particulary sence he was banned Jul 06, 2007.
There are some follow up messages allong the lines of

Hello,
Still no sign,

etc. But they are apparently out of my ability to find.

Also I did, follow each step and requirement of the "Bad Trader Reporting Rules - Caveat Emptor!" post. Addtionaly, it may have me listed for whatever reason as being a "new trader" but I did plenty in the previous incarnation of bartertown, and all went swimmingly.

I loves and hates ebay.

The context of your post looks as if you may have taken some offense.
MAY have.

If you did, I apologize. I meant none.
If not, then just ignore everything above this sentence. :)

That being said...

1) He was banned? Okay. I was unfamiliar with his name.

I looked him up. Here's a link to his profile:

profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=10827&si ... 30c6910855

He's not banned. He was suspended for 2 weeks. Oddly enough, his account still shows as suspended (It's the traders responsibility to notify the Admin when the 2 weeks is over).

Here's what got him suspended:

viewtopic.php?p=87603&highlight=&sid=fb ... 84d6#87603

Since he was just suspeneded, I (personally) would have kept PMing him regularly, so they'd be waiting for him when he got back on BTown (presuming that he eventually would).

Now, if you're having a problem finding messages you sent him, look in your "Outbox" it contains PM's you sent but haven't been opened yet (and, if he's still suspended, he couldn't have opened them).

Good luck.

I did a little, got over it pretty quick though :-D, was more a frustration issue than anything else. Anyway, yes suspended.

Further thanks for the advice on the outbox thing, your right, one on july 15, unread.

Time will tell, or be forgotten. As all things.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that this post and the one that got Be Afraid suspended are both refering to the same trade. Back in July, Be Afraid was asking for advice about how to handle a trade where he got models he thought were fake. At that point, he hadn't sent out his half and was wondering what to do.

Your chaos stuff appears to be mostly long out of production stuff. To someone not familar with GW's back catalog, it might apear to be from another company, as was mentioned in the other post. The lower left musician is probably the 1 'real' model that he was refering to out of the 30 or so in the picture.

If they are the same trade, then he never sent your stuff, and was debating what to do. He should have contacted you directly to ask what was going on. Instead he posted to the bad trader forum and got suspended. Since he's been suspended ever since, he may not even have your address or anyway to contact you. Have you tried to find any other contact information for him? Perhaps a mod/admin would be willing to forward a message to him via the email he registered with?

If my theory's correct, it appears he wasn't trying to rip you off.

I have looked besides writing a letter for contact information. One problem I have as thouse where the ones and he admits it in the post, but we agreed tp send at the same time, yet this shows me that he did no such thing. He waited for the stuff to arrive and then did not contact me in anyway and likely has not sent anything. Also in that thread he admits to getting what he asked for.

But yes they are very old minatures, as I advertised them to be. I spent many hours looking them up before I even felt like fairly listing them.

Ves, I'm glad you went out on that limb.

I had the same theory, but I was kind of afraid to go out there where you did (the limb, that is). Nothing personal, Val... I've already ruffled your feathers once in this thread. I didn't want to do it again. LOL --- Which is odd... usually, if there's anything I need to say I just say it & hope for the best. <G>

we agreed tp send at the same time, yet this shows me that he did no such thing.
BINGO!

This may simply be a matter of bad trade practices leading to bad circumstances, and not outright theft.

He PROBABLY had every intention of sending... but wanted to be certain that he didn't get ripped off by waiting until he received yours, then sending and blaming the postal service, customs, or himself ("I wrote your address wrong & it was returned. Sorry! I'll resend at my OWN expense). I have seen all 3 (some multiple times) in my trade experiences.

Hopefully, you can get Linrandir involved in this and he can send an email on your behalf or give you the guy's email address.

ONE MORE EXAMPLE WHY ALL TRADES SHOULD BE CARRIED OUT OR, AT LEAST, CONFIRMED VIA EMAIL, B-TOWNERS.

Definately, and as much as I do like dealing with the Britians, I am tempted to only agree to national trades in the future.

FYI. Once a BTR is submitted and passes the rules inspection, it stays no matter what the resolution is. DO NOT remove ANYTHING from your post unless you are asked to do so by an admin or moderator.

You may only reply to the post with the resolution, at which time it will be locked.
