Need some feedback on valuing items..............
A comment I saw in a post got me wondering about trade values. How much do you value primed, assembled or painted(items that will probably need stripping) against trades for items in new condition.
If I owe you a reference, please let me know. I accidentally deleted my PMs.

That question is somewhat nebulous, since a lot of it depends on whether you're valuing it for a trade or for a sale. However, I know which post you're refering to, so I'll respond in that context.
As a prospective buyer, if it's something I'm interested in and it's in like-new shape (IE NiB, still on the sprue, unassembled, all pieces there), then I'll pay up to 70% of the retail value (or 30% off). If it's been assembled and/or primered, I won't go over 60% retail, and thats if I have good pictures proving to me that they're WELL assembled and thinly primered without obscuring any details. If they're painted, I generally won't go for them at all unless they're metal and easily strippable - in which case I'll pay MAYBE 50% of the retail cost.
I will NOT pay 70% retail for something that's assembled, primed, painted, stripped, or any combination thereof. Neither will I ask anyone to pay that much for items in that condition. In fact, I recently had a trade offer where a guy offered to pay me 70% for stuff, and I actually talked him DOWN in price because several of the items were in the primed/painted/stripped/assembled category.
Now, if you're talking a TRADE instead of a sale, then that changes things quite a bit. I recently concluded a trade where I had a mix of primed/assembled stuff, and the other side did too - so we went by straight up retail value figuring the like-conditions balanced out. Otherwise if it's my stuff I'll try to get 80% retail value out of stuff unless it's in poor shape. Conversely, I'll offer 70%-80% trade value for someone elses assembled/primed/stripped stuff (depending on the condition) if they're trading for something that I've got that's NiB.

Well, I don't know the post you're referring to but, if we're talking METAL minis... that's just "Cracked Out."It really threw me off to see someone valuing used mins at 35% of retail for trade.
As in, "What? Are you smoking...?"
Then again... This IS BTown, where the "B" stands for barter... If they can find someone who sees that as an agreeagle price, so be it. Who am I to step in?
For the record, though, I've actually told people that their offers were too high before, too, and gave them a lower price... a few times, actually!
I just couldn't reason it with my conscience.

Ah, MM I'm afraid I have to say you missed the point. The trade post was from someone wanting to sell his stuff at 35% off - despite much of it being assembled, primed, painted or possibly stripped. I believe he also said his prices were non-negotiable, tho I could be wrong on that.
I wondered about the post at the time as well and thought about sending a PM to the author to try and let him know that he realistically isn't likely to get that much out of stuff in that condition, but decided to let it go.

See, I was going based strictly on what J said:
For metal minis, I'll give 35% of retail trade OR cash!
