Treeman as Necron Ctan..WIP

I can't afford the full tesseract, so I bought a WE Treeman. I said to the GW store manager that with the right paint scheme, it could look like an elemental.

Here's the WIP.
Several shades of blues and grays. Washes of blues, inks of blue, glazes of blues. Dry brushed blues, grays, whites.
At one point he looked more like a snow/cold elemental rather than an energy/electicity one.

I've used a bi more blue over thewith to tone it down.. I'm still not happy with it.
Suggestions? I want the 'looks like energy' look to it.

Looks really good ...I being toying with the idea of doing the same but for a slaneeshi treemonic army

It almost had a purple inks on it.

Yea i agree it looks believable as an elemental, though i'd consider maybe hightlighting some of those line details the eyes and the mouth.

I haven't decided on the color of the eyes yet. I might do the typical Necron green glow and have the 'refelection' or 'illumination' over the face from it. Maybe even have that come from the center, under the ribcage also.
I'm trying to stay away from greens. I'm concerned that it might look like a treeman again.
I've clipped off the leaves.

Well, you may consider taking a page from a series called "ultimate spiderman" and use some florescent yellow. Because didn't the ice giants spidey fought have yellow eyes?

I'm just concerned that the yellow and blue will mix to green..and back to trees again. Maybe a purple.. I do have a metalic emerald green also. Red is always deamonic.

I mean in this case id do the eyes and the inside of the mouth a florescent yellow. Then on a model like this id consider isolating the sections with those fancy curly q's do either a dark or light shade of blude and do the surrounding parts in the opposite shade of blue. Basic idea is to make it look like he's wearing a sort of primative armor he carved himself out of ice. Then with those fancy curly q's either go in with a sewing pin and depending what shade of blue you use, use either a nice white or a really glossy black.

Good ideas. But, like you said, ice.. I want the energy look.

Also, what size base? I'm trying to make one the size of a large flying base out of an old large blast template. It's a clear white type. I'm trying to glue it to the treeman base. Hmm I got a bunch of cork I might use.

Hmm yea honestly i am skeptical on purple and green, if you're going for the look of an energy creature with a blue body. But still id consider painting the eyes and inside the mouth the same color to give it that energy look. Id also consider hightlighting the curly q's carved into the body to with what ever color you use for the eyes and mouth, just to break up the blue and white.

I don't play Necrons (or have a player in your group that does) so I couldn't really help with the base size question.
