OK... Now I am upset... (Maybe out of place)

See this thread for the origin of this rant.

viewtopic.php?t=24041

I have sent a PM to a HIGHLY respected member of the Bartertown community, one whom I felt had a relationship with the gentleman I am currently trading with. It has moved to my sent box. I am assuming that this member of the Bartertown community checks PM's when they log in. If I am wrong and I hear from this person in the next little while, I rescind my comments.

I feel as a rookie to the Bartertown process I am being ignored. I have waited over two weeks to hear back from the gentleman I am trading with. I have sent him numerous PM's all of which have been "sent". Now I know that doesn't mean he has read them, but I have now sent one to another member and it is sent, I asked both for a quick reply, one or two words would suffice, and have received nothing. I feel as though if I implicate these members as "bad" people no one would take me seriously as their feedback is significantly higher than mine, their word would supercede mine. How do I remedy this? Any suggestions?

Hello Oaflord! Welcome to Bartertown.

You bring up a good point. There are many many ways to contact many many administrators on Bartertown, none of them are very good ways to get in touch with them. I lose emails, don't check my email, misplace PMs, etc. etc. We will come up with a better way to create support tickets.

Sorry I couldn't answer your PM this afternoon but I check my PM box during the day for any incredibly burning problems (entire site is down) but really don't read anything else. Like all of the admins, we work real jobs outside of BT and it would be inappropriate to spend too much time goofing around.

More to the point, I've known Gene for 7 years now. It's most likely that your package is stuck in customs, I'll see if I can dig up a phone number/email for him and give him a call. One of my brothers lives near where he lives, if all else fails, I'll be in that area in June and I'll drop by his house. Gene always has insurance on the packages, generous amounts of insurance, I'm sure it will show up.

Sorry for the delay in response.

As to the question of a message moving to sent, then not hearing a reply back:

I regularly check my messages, and if I get offered a deal that I have to think about, I will often wait to reply until I have considered it and decided what I want to do with it. There are times when I am considering how to respond to an offer when I get sidetracked from it and forget all about it until several days (sometimes a couple of weeks) pass and I see something else that reminds me that I did not reply.

One suggestion might be to wait a reasonable amount of time (in my mind, a couple of days), then send another message asking for confirmation that the first message was recieved. I think I speak for many of us when I say that trading is a hobby, not a job, and we often have to drop working/thinking about it for extended periods of time.

I can say from experience that it can be difficult to be patient during periods when others are busy, but that is one of those facts of life that we deal with and move on.

I appreciate the feedback, however a trade has occurred, my figs have been received by him as shown on Purolator's website, I have asked for a reply twice now, but my last message has not been picked up as of yet and I sent it late last week, so it is possible that he may be predisposed. I just want to know if his stuff is on its way, thats all.

Wait so, you tried to contact the owner of the site and then got mad he didn't respond?

He is the owner of the site, he is a little bit busy. There are like five other mods you can try messaging though, most of them will help you.

It's been over three weeks now and I haven't heard from this guy. At what point to I put this in the bad trader forum, and at what point do I seek legal recourse? I have his phone number, I don't want to have to resort to that I understand privacy, but this is getting out of hand...
