I've been watching this thread with a degree of interest. Either Maxx/Simone is gaining more notoriety than Ticknor for "uniqueness" in an approach at a scam, or they truly are separate people. I'm thinking it's the latter. Here's why...

The MySpace discussion that cheated posted can be wrung through an "online handwriting analysis" and shows a lot of major differences.

First being Maxx's propensity for misspellings and the "then" versus "than" wordings. Poor punctuation and random capitalization of letters. He also forgets to space before starting a new sentence. His messages are short and aloof and he uses chat abbreviations like "ppl" instead of people.

Simone's show correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling and she's got a lot of "HOLY CRAP" tone in the way she words things.
From my point of view, it's enough of a difference to show a separation of writing style without being so severe of a difference as to look faked.

Add this to the IP Addy difference, and I'd say you fellas can believe that they are separate people...one of which is trying to make things right.

Yeah I'll vouch for this. From the way they type and the sentence structure it seems like two different people. And I heard from an admin that he was forwarded a PM or email or something from Max's mother that said he'd shipped everything out. What everything is I know not but I hope it's what we gave him cause that's what I'm wanting. Here's hoping it's true

And I'll also tell you from personal and professional experience, being a police officer myself who investigates crimes on a nearly daily basis, that truly guilty people just don't stick around this long. Guilty people that are "trying" not to look guilty, throw a line or two, then become a ghost again when your guard is down.

This one is being far too helpful. Once she provides the appropriate phone numbers, for both herself and her ex-boyfriend, which she will obviously have to do eventually, will pretty much seal the deal on her innocence, or

But if she is 100% guilty, then she needs to come forward with all forms, methods, and means of contact with this Maxx individual. The local police would expect nothing less. Anything short of that would/could be construed as consipiracy to mail fraud, or at a bare minimum Resisting, Obstructing or Delaying a police investigation (what we here in North Carolina call RDO, in Virginia, Obstruction of Justice). No matter what the title, it is a crime that the courts do not take lightly, and nearly always results in jail time and decent fines.

So Simone, take it from someone who knows, the more you provide now before the police become involved, the better you're going to look.....

Thanks for your posting...I have been trying to give as much info as I can. I did provide information to the admins that I hoped would be helpful however, I have yet to hear a reply from anyone....Hopefully, that's a good sign? Anyway, yes, I am intent in proving my innocence in this matter and moving forward from that point.

Handwriting analysis be typing style doesn't mean squat.
I could, in the matter of a couple hours, provide a lengthy and detailed chat log between.... (thinking off-hand)... myself, a 65 yr old woman and.... a teen ager.
It would be convincing and everything. It's all a matter of adopting 3 appropriate typing styles and sticking to them.

See, I'm intelligent. Anyone going to lengths to HIDE details, who has a half a degree of intelligence, could EASILY manipulate something like this.
Obviously, she has the capabilities, as she removed (understandably) the screen names from the MySpace chat log.

I'm not convinced by the chat log. that does nothing for me more than to have me say, "If she's being honest, this Max guy's not only a thieving a$$hole... he's also a frigging moron."

I say "more" convincing because, if you ARE lying, you wouldn't be the first one to stay around this long posing as someone else.

As is, I'm content to NOT sit around and call you a liar but, rather, sit around watching to see whether or not you are. Coming from me, that's a BIG thing... and I haven't been really rude to you, or mean... that's something, too. LOL

If you end up to truly be innocent, I can guarantee that you'll have a whole HOST of online buddies here who will do anything they are capable of to help you out in thanks for your assistance in catching Max.
Computer gets messed up... shoot a message here. Want advice about the law (as it pertains to police matters). Post a message. Banking questions? Post a message... etc.

I do agree with what you're saying. However, like you said, choose whether to take it personally or not, it's hard but I'm trying. I understand you have seen this before. Personally, I have not. That's the hard part. I do however, have full confidence in knowing that if it did come to a point to where the police had to come and investigate a "case", and they had to subpoena some kind of information from the site we mentioned earlier, it would be as clear as daylight. The problem is, and I don't think anyone understands...I have something and someone besides myself to protect here. Which is why I have been very reluctant in providing such information amongst you. I have however, provided it for the site admins. I can try and defend myself until I'm blue in the face (which is what I seem intent on doing for some reason)...or, I cannot say or do anything until someone decides to show up on my doorstep. For the reason I mentioned earlier, I would really rather that not happen. Which is why I'm trying to cooperate and help as much as possible. I think what's happening right now is a waiting game....we're waiting to see if he really did send the things to whomever he was supposed to them to and see what comes from that. The problem is, and I don't think anyone understands...I have something and someone besides myself to protect here.

I'm guessing that you're referring to a little one.
If that's the case, don't worry (of course, I know that my telling you not to worry is like peeing on a forest fire)... Many or us here have our own little ones.
Rest assured... it would only take a threat against him/her (or, for that matter, YOU) and the person who threatened would be in a world of hurt.

We take certain things to heart here... you don't *edit* with family... especially kids.

I KNOW this is a headache for you but, in the long run, it'll help you get this guy out of your life (hopefully) for good, and for us, it'll (hopefully) get HIM put away.

Please, don't feel threatened. The only thing we really threaten to do here is call the authorities. Anything more is STRICTLY not tolerated by the Admin's.

Simone, I have gotten your PM's. I think at this point we're going to wait and see what the police investigation will turn up.

What I'd like to make clear is that Bartertown is a very cautious crowd of people. We've had some pretty spectacular scammers; text can only really go so far and I'm not going to ask anyone to email me a scan of a driver's license or whatever.
So do we believe you? Yes, cautiously. Does this mean one of the admin staff will issue a blanket statement to that regard? Not yet. Once we have some confirmation from law enforcement or the aggrieved parties, then we can get to the complete exoneration.

Anything less would be, I feel, inappropriate.

Just checked on it and it's sitting in the post office here waiting to be picked up so Simone has sent what she had of mine, if it's 9 CSM backpack which is all Simone had of mine.

Word on the street is my package was mailed May 4. God knows what's in it, since Longbeard and I bought the same merchandise.

I'm not holding my breath that it's my entire purchase, but one way or another, it should be here in the next couple of days, and I'll make a full report then.

He's the one max was referring to in the PM's above, in regards to cancelling a check.

When we realized there was a scam going on, I helped him contact his bank & get a stop payment placed on the cashier's check.

Good thing, too since, according to the PM text between the 2, Max had already negotiated the check (which is how he knew the details about its' return... they were stamped on the check that the bank provided back to him, once it was returned).

Ok I got what Simone sent me and it's exactly what she said she'd send. It was the only thing she had of mine and I've been contavted by Max again. He basicly said "What's your address so I can send your stuff." I sent him my address and I'm hoping I get my stuff back. If not i have a paper to file a mail fraud claim. Either way works but one is easier and potentially faster.

You are missing the point. Whether or not you get your minis, you NEED to fill out & file that report. It is paper trails like that, mounds of evidence and complaints, that will stop this guy.

Which message do YOU want to send?

1) It's okay to try to steal from me, as long as you send the stuff back after I threaten you with legal action.

2) This sh!t ain't right. You do the crime, you do the time.

Regardless of what he does or doesn't send, he attempted mail fraud. Some would argue that it is your civic duty to follow through with charges.

How many criminaly get away with stuff because people don't follow through with charges?
How many women (not to compare the 2, but it's all I have on the top of my head) end up getting killed by men in their lives because they never pressed charges after one of the many beatings?

Stop the pattern and stop the criminal.
