2014 Bartertown Members Painting Challenge!

Post by hapotte »

Alright guys, so it's finally here, I shamelessly copied the rules from last year so everyone who participated should know how it works. For the new guys, it's pretty simple. I'll keep track of the points in the first post but please let me know the total of point you've painted in each post.

Here is the info on the points..

(borrowed from staff challenge)
Regular infantry, 6mm inf./vehicle stands, 15mm inf. = 1pt.
Ogres, Ogrun, Trolls, terminators, Light Warjacks, 15mm Cavalry, 6mm large vehicles = 2pts.
Cavalry, Bikers, 15mm tanks = 3pts
Heavy Warjacks, Manticores, Hellpit Abominations, Smallish Vehicles, carnifexes, 15mm Big Stuff = 5pts.
Large Vehicles (Land Raiders, Valkyries, Trygon, WM War Engines) = 8pts.
Very Large Model ( Baneblade, imperial knight, etc...)= 10pts
Really HUGE Stuff (Titan, Stompa, etc...) = case by case

Models must be fully painted and based to count for points.

And here are the points! And if you would like to join, just post and let me know.

I'm in. I fell out of painting halfway through last year, and it still bugs me.

Maybe 1 pt for objectives, small obstacles, etc? (Since there is no terrain challenge)

Your also in, I also stopped painting halfway through last year, did a few in december but never got to post them..... So I'm back in it.

Should we add the following?

Small objective/ obstacle 1pts
Small terrain/building 3pts
Medium terrain/building 5pts
Large terrain/ building 10pts

I think everything is good to keep the creative juice going and at the end of the day I can say "at least I got something done" but let me know what guys think on this? Should we have abother thread about terrain/table challenge?

I'll join, now that I have finally come to a paint scheme for my Tyranids this will give me the motivation to continue with them. Couple of questions though, or simply some help translating point by point, would a Tyranid Warrior (or other Terminator based Tyranid like Ravener, Biovore, Venomthrope, etc) count as 2 pts? Would a Hive Tyrant or other 60mm based bug like a Carnifex count as 5 pts?

I think maybe if you added like "Terminator based models" or "40mm based models" and "60 mm based models" it might be easier for people to judge their models and how many points they are worth. I am not sure what an Ogrun is (the IG Ogryn?) and what size that would be in rl so I have no idea how to compare to it.

Either way, I am in! When does this begin? Can I include stuff I just finished this week?

EDIT: Oh Ogrun as in PP model lol my bad.

You've also been added!

Terminator sized models are worth 2pts and carnifexes size are worth 5pts. You can post pictures of any models finished that were started in 2014.

IIRC, last year, anything started after Jan 1 counted.

And I read the 1,2 and 5 as 30mm, 40mm and 50mm bases.

I would like to join again this year. And can start with a few points:
Image
Heavy Warjack (5 pts.), Light Warjack x2 (4 pts.), and Warcaster (2 pts.) = 11 pts.
If I forget to post a reference for you, please let me know!
If you are not going to post a reference for me, please explain why, maybe I can fix it!

My first contribution. The beginning of my Tyranids! A quick, TT quality paint job (I have about 10,000 points and decided I really shouldn't spend much time on each one).
Lictor =2, Broodlord =2, Genestealer x2 =2, Hormagaunt =1, Gargoyle =1 For a total of 8 points!

Re: Terrain painting - I personally think it fits, but am not against making a different thread solely for terrain.
