Let's face it people!

Post by Crushar »

Okay let's face some facts:
1.) Ticknor is still on this forum and is on still on Bartertown!
2.) Ticknor is using so far as I can see 2 different alias and is still out to scam us.
3.) WithOUT any of us complaining then Ticknor will be getting away with whatever he wants! Here is Detective Rewolinski's email, he is the one that (frank.rewolinski@gfpd.org) insidius worked his butt off to get us all in contact with.
4.) Without someone like insidius, we would all be in a state of confusion about how to report and hopefully penalize people like Ticknor. Thank you insidius!!
5.) I think that Bartertown should (if I may be so bold to suggest this) place the address of:
Justin Barnard
1754 N. Humbolt Ave,
Milwaukee WI 53202
On the front/home page where everyone WILL read it and atleast make Ticknor find a new address for his scamming.

Sorry insidius I should have been more percise. New members that say they are here to help are Jason Ticknor and/or his scumbag friends.

Maybe posting people's addresses on a special spot on the front page would cut down on this.

Update

Post by uatu13 »

As an update, I just received my original stuff back from Justin Barnard (or whoever he is). Everything was complete, but of course I didn't get the stuff it was supposed to be traded for and it has taken 3 months of constant harassment to get them back. I wouldn't EVER trade with this guy again, but maybe there's hope for you guys to get your stuff back?

Glad to hear you got your stuff back. I think the reason you got your stuff back and not the stuff you were promised is because he never HAD the stuff you were promised.

Same with me; got my stuff back and not the stuff I was promised because the deal he promised us was too good to be true and/or he never had it to begin with.

Couldn't agree more!

Post by Crushar »

I couldn't agree more with insidius! I too am now being offered a refund with a "What are you talking about? That wasn't the trade!" And..." I never used another email address..."

I love a bad lying idiot!

Anyway, if you have been taken from this address I strongly suggest you email Detective Frank Rewolinski at: frank.rewolinski@gfpd.org

The Detective seems very nice, and the more people we get after this thief the better. Maybe then he'll go down even harder!

From what i was told, he said that he was getting everything to EVERYONE, and alot of the people are getting exaclty what they were expecting, it will just be a little late. Only problem with the detec. is that he is a greenfield officer, and this is a milwaukee problem. So i think you might have to contact milwaukee police over this if you want to file something.

I'm thoroughly convinced he never had any of the stuff he said he had. If he did I think he would have been a little more concerned about it getting lost in the mail and would have followed through with the insurance claim. I also got some funny BS excuses about the bits being sent back and then rejected by me! Yeah, that's going to happen after trying to get them back for 3 months. I think this guy is a terrible trader and I would NEVER, EVER trade with him again (and suggest you do the same), but it looks like the pressure was big enough for him to settle up with everyone.

I trade on several other forums and I had an idea. Why don't we,in case of large trades, send to a middle man like a mod, to make sure everything is there. I know you'll have to pay 2x shipping, but then you won't lose your valuable goods.

Just my 2 cents...

Well, that does a couple things... it puts the mods in an awkward position as a middle man AND representative of BTown if anything goes wrong (Trader A says they sent something, go between says it's not in the box, trader A accuses the Mod -the go between- of being a thief and causes Adam and the rest of BTown some problems).

The idea of a go between has been suggested a few times. Bartertown specifically does NOT support or endorse any individual as a go between for trades.

I've thought about it myself, offering my services as an intermediary, but it would be cost prohibitive for most traders (I'd expect them to pay ALL shipping fees and a little something for my time and effort). That's about how it turns out for everyone.

I think what this situation needs is some imagination.

I don't know, MM, a professional buffer between the masses. It could work out to be a lucrative job if you got enough people to trust you.

I've taken to filing away all emails of everyone i trade with, I regret not posting to the ITL over the years a bit, as I have the lowest rating of anyone I've seen, lol.

WI seems to be in a bad way reputation wise, which is sad, isn't the fonz from milwaukee?

I've traded online for over 5 years, and have been ripped once -by a guy from New Jersey. I have traded with others in NJ since then. It's not the state - it's the rippers.
You must
A. Take the time to request and check all references.
B. Regularly and faithfully list all good transactions on the good trade
page here or elsewhere, to build up trade reputations for yourself
and others.
C. Be prepared to turn your back on super-sweet offers - they are
rarely legitimate.
D. Consider breaking up blockbuster sized trades - sent the first part
and wait until their corresponding package arrives before sending
the next - higher shipping, but your loss is reduced in case of fraud.

Stop accusing all for the sake of 2!
