Quit shipping in ZipLoc bags

Post by pixelgeek »

Just a quick recommendation for those that still do it.

Please stop putting miniatures in ZipLoc bags and shipping them. They break. Especially Epic figures. It offers no protection and while it organizes the figures nicely all that means is that I have all the broken parts in one bag.

I am going to be amending my .sig to mention this but I was wondering what would be an appropriate response to people doing this? Neutral feedback?

Are they only using ziploc bags? No padding?

FOR ME, it depends on HOW the ziploc is being used and for what. There are some things that are obviously okay to be in ziplocs and some that should NEVER be.
It's the other lengths of protecting the models they go to that matter to me.

No padding. Just bags of figs.

Epic Guard miniatures and loose 40K figs with no padding... I have indeed had people put figs in ZipLoc bags that were wrapped in bubble wrap. That is not the case in the instances that I am worried about.

I just sent 3 bags with 50 1/72 scale soft plastic models. [like plastic army men]
but I wrapped them in tape, the put them into a padded envelope.
then that was wrapped with tape.
[tape is 2 inch wide clear packing tape.]
Heh, I was called a Grognard. ;-)

I've been hit recently with a few sellers/traders who do this. One even did it after I specifically told him about people doing this to me recently and asking to make sure he'd pack it well. Nope, ten-man Warmachine unit stuffed into a bag arrived broken into pieces, along with two warjacks stuffed into a different bag, both of which were then stuffed into a small Priority box. Two days and no response on a refund...

I don't understand how people think this is an okay system for shipping things out.

I don't think ziplocs are the problem - the lack of padding wherever necessary is.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't necessary to revive a 6-month dead thread for this.
