I agree with you in round about sort of way. Problem here is the emails for the trade aren't posted. If the buyer declined DC then he has no leg to stand on. If he did then the sender is at fault regardless of rating. I made a personal mark that if I purchase/do a trade worth more than $10.00 (seemed like a good amount) then DC will be required.

Well, Ollie, I think that's a good thing to stick with... and, while you're right about him not posting emails... It's not really necessary. He's not accusing anyone of anything, just asking for advice and opininons. I don't really know that it's necessary for him to go through all that for our suppositions.

It seems that, regardless, we agree about the DC or lack of it, if requested.

Well, I was just wanting to see if anyone else had experienced a similar thing with klaut... but it seems to have spawned an interesting debate. Here's a few things to mix it up a bit more:
1. I'm normally really good about getting DC on anything over $50. This was $60 and I wasn't exactly thinking straight, so I'm not 100% sure that I got it. I have gone through my PMs and found that I offered Priority Mail, but DC and Insurance were never mentioned.
2. I've asked repeatedly if he's checked with the local Post. He refuses to answer that question.
3. The buyer never actually gave me his real name. He asked that I ship to 'klaut' and claims that there has never been a problem doing so before. Even his PayPal address does not have his real name.
4. There was no paper wrapping or anything. The address sticker was attached directly to the box and then taped down in addition.

So after considering everything, I'm not paying him the money back. Do I feel bad about it? A little, he might be kosher. If the figs ever return to me, I'll post the money immediately. I've offered to show him how to post a complaint here, post fraud w the USPS and request an insurance claim w PayPal (if he got it.) I've gotten no response to those offers.

While I promise not to make assumptions, the above two items, especially number THREE make me suspicious of the transaction.
