Yeah that is a concern for me too, I have been debating on holding back that until they release the new CSM book. However, they are going to get a new CSM book at some point, and I think that is better than having one out and it sucks. hehe
But once they release a new book, won't they release a new set of models to?(Or at least a partial set) Then you will have a whole lot of OOP models that not a whole ton of people are going to want. Wouldn't it make more sense to sell now while they are still the newest edition? Just my thoughts there... Thanks!

lol you're right every day I hold on to them they are lowering in value. The chances of them coming out with completely awesome Finecast Death Guard are extremely high.
I will ship out of the US please let me know within the first post where you are if not in the US, it does affect how the trade goes some times. Thanks Also lower rank ships first, and I always want to both use and receive a tracking number so I can know when to expect things.

There was a hint of Satire in my statement, or at least there was some intended. hehe

One of the best examples I can give to my frustration of Finecast is Gnoblar Hunter from OK in WHFB. They used to be like 12 dollars for 4, now they are almost 16, and the unit size went from 8 to 10... requiring you to buy a 3rd blister. All of that and 12 Gnoblar Hunters are only 43 pts in game

This is how I painted the Pyre Troll... I am fairly happy with how it came out. The fire didn't not come out as well as I want though sadly.

I like the skin though, and the stone armor as well. The base was extra green stuff from me putting together the Karl Franz model.

I agree that if you did a little me work on the fire that would help out the mini alot. Thanks!

I like it! I think the reason you might be wondering about the fire is because you aplied the colors backwards from the standard way. You went yellow out to red and fire is usually red in the deepest recesses out to yellow at the tips. But i like both ways so i think it comes down to whatever you like :)

You got that backwards. It's actually yellow (almost white) where it's hottest - at it's base (excluding gas fires, which are blue).

Forest Fire. Note that it's nearly white at the forest level to red at the tops.

Lake on fire pic. Same thing. The colors are brightest @ the water, where the fuel source is:

I think the issue with the model is that you have WAAAY too much red in the fire & your red's too dull and blood-like.
You just want a (bright) red at the tip of the fire and a good bright yellow at the base. The majority of the fire should be orange, from a yellow-heavy orange to a red-heavy orange. You should also start from white or grey primer. Never black.
When I'm done with fire, I like to cover the think with a glaze/wash of yellow ink (I mix mine 5:1, water:ink).

No worries. It's actually a common thing... Most things are brighter/lighter on the tops and darker in the recesses. If you're not looking at fire and/or haven't really learned what I posted above, then it's only natural to presume that the darker colors are on the bottom and the lighter colors are the highlights.

looking at those pictures I think I will do less and go for more. I used white Primer, but I blended a fortress gray and 50/50 black/gray at the end trying to give it some body. Like the farther out it got, that it was solid and not a plume of fire.

I will probably walk that back some by lighting it up and going for normal fire. hehe

I will have pictures of the Earthborn Dire Troll too today I hope.

Thanks again to everyone for their advice and opinions. :)

Ok here is the 2nd part of these two PP models I got. I am not sure I like the blue on this... but I hate painting in blue. I used a mid tone to provide a base over a white primer, and then made a 2/1 blue/black glaze to fill the low parts. I then highlighted it with a 2/1 white/blue as a dry brush over it. So its skin is mono-crome, which I am not a 100% sure was the right decision at this point.

I have left the symbols on the leather, because I am not sure if I sure I make them bone or gold, the under coat I used it good for both. I am not sure I want a metallic on such a organic model, but it might be something they use normally so I figured I would ask.

anyways, like always I welcome you opinion. :)

I also wanted to show the adjustments I made to the flame on that Pyre Troll. I went back over it with a white dry brush, then followed it with a orange, and blended more yellow into that near the mouth. I then did another white dry brush, and followed it with a brighter orange that has a little more yellow in it.

I have finished some more models for the CSM lot, and I have changed it up some too adding another unit so it can field 1850 points. It has several HQ choices, but with the Demon Prince and a Terminator Sorc it can be 1850. The Demon Prince of Tzeentch is the older pewter one, with some really old wings that I got at Gen Con several years ago when I bought miniatures by the pound. lol I also make a mark of Tzeentch with some green stuff.

The Rhinos are very heavy weathered, and I am sort of happy with it, I have to refine it more for me to be really happy with it. :)
