I had to get on here an toot my own horn about the Big Mek I built today. Although I don't have a picture of it (and wouldn't know how to post it if I did...) you'll have to take my word for it that he turned out awesome! It was my most involved modelling project in quite some time as I've been mostly working on beastmen for the last year or so. I played a game of 40K at the grand opening of our new GW store in Cincinnati and got the bug to work on my Orks again after a several year break. I did a bunch of conversions on some AoBR Nobz I bought when that set first came out and also converted pretty heavily the Waboss from that set. That got me looking at my Imperial Armour book with the Orks in it and amongst all of the awesome vehicles I rediscovered that cool Beg Mek character. Soooo, I decided I would convert one up of my very own.
I based him on the metal Warboss with Big Choppa body and used the head from the AoBR Warboss that has the bionik eye. The right arm is the 'Uge Choppa from the Warbiker set and the left arm is the empty hand arm from the Nobz set. I modelled a small hand controller onto that arm and attached it to his scratchbuilt backpack that he styled after a techmarine. It has one "arm" made from rod with some gears and stuff with a hook on the end and another "arm" made from left over sprue bits and a metal Dred pincher. The backpack itself is based on an old pair of guns that look like bolters but I don't know what they originally were and I added some bits from GorkaMorka and even some really old first gen GW vehicle bits.
For his 2 little Gretchin assisstants I'm using OOP Grots. One is carrying just a huge amount of crap all stacked up and the other is dragging a bag full of swag for mekin' stuff!! I put those two on small GorkaMorka Bases since they are basically wargear but I would like to see if I can find a suitably large base to do a presentation style base for all 3 minis.
All in all I am VERY happy with how it all turned out and once all the glue cures I'll prime it and start painting asap. I'll try to take some pics just in case I can ever post them. I wish sites like these hosted their own photos but I understand that might be expensive.
Proud of my new Big Mek!! NOW WITH PICS!! :)

Norseman is going to help me get a few pics up so you can get a look at the finished product. Luckilly I hadn't primed him yet so the pics came out OK I think. Of course I had to tweak him a bit and added a few extra bits and broke him in the process. Then lost the wires that go from the backpack to the controller outside while I was trying to figure out the damn digital camera. It was a mess!! Luckilly my wife has spent the last 3 weeks addicted to those hidden item games on the laptop, she walked right out there and found it no problem.

Hey!!!!!!! I'm not a complete caveman and I figured out how to add a picture! Thanks Bartertown for being so great!
So I have to say it looks better in person but the pictures at least give you an idea of what I was going for. It's 26 different pieces from about 10 or more kits pinned with 9 pins. Once I get it painted up I'll post a picture of it in it's finished glory!!
