TRY..note I said try, and watch very closely & carefully: laquer thinner.
That's what the guys at the paint shop said.
Their 1st choice is scraping & grinding.

Re: Resin vs. Acetone. What happens? Alternative to acetone?
Putting resin base in an acetone bath is like an alternate version of Thunderdome.
"Two bases enter. No bases leave."
So, after 2 days in acetone, I went down and opened up the container.
First of all... WHEW! Acetone in resin puts out a STENCH. I hope this isn't toxic, or I'll be peeing contaminated wate for weeks! LOL
My container for holding the acetone in is imperfect, so a good portion of the acetone was gone when I got downstairs tonight. The bases were... interesting.
The armorcast base looked like is was unravelling. The finer details just kind of peeled off, and the main portion of the base kind of "unwound" in semicircular pieces.
The Epicast base seems to be made of a better resin. it just looked rubbery. When I started messing with it, though, it broke into pieces easily (due to the particular base I was using, it snapped into 4 equal quarters of a circle). From there, the outer layer of the base just kind of peeled off like a skin or shell (SOFT shell). The insides were crumbly, but more resilient than the Armorcast base. The appearance of the pieces was almost like a little piece of concrete.
On both bases, the resin turned rubbery. Now, to see how long it takes them to turn back.

Probably about a month. On both bases, the resin turned rubbery. Now, to see how long it takes them to turn back.
Bad idea...lacquer thinner.
The Lacquer Thinner will jellify the glue but it will take a few hours. Unfortunate thing the resin will not last that long.
You could apply the Lacquer thinner with an eye dropper on the effected areas, just on the glue. It MIGHT work.
Do you have any pics?
I do have some extra Revenant feet parts.

Re: Resin vs. Acetone. What happens? Alternative to acetone?
I was told laquer thinner isn't as strong as acetone, which is what all of the debonders are.
I was also told grinding and scraping was best.
These guys are professional furnature painters & refinishers. Who game and paint for a hobby. They are the guys who designed the banana boxes for transporting minis and terrain. Their terraon won best a convention at a military wargaming con a couple months ago. [no GW] [maybe called Recon?]

Re: Resin vs. Acetone. What happens? Alternative to acetone?
I'm not sure if that stench was toxic, but I had to finally throw in the towel. With a fume-induced headache that was getting nothing but worse and a stench that refused to be removed filling my workspace, I wrapped up and threw the resin outside in my trash cans and evacuated my work room for the holidays (due to Christmas, though, and not the stench). Finally returning last night, there was no hint of odor, thank God.
After speaking with the guy I purchased the model from, he told me about a product he uses called "Un-glue." Yes. That IS the name:
http://www.google.com/products/catalog? ... IkBEPMCMAo
I looked up the MSDS on it. No acetone.
Checking a local hobby store ("modeling" and not really "gaming" store), they had it. At $3, it was worth a shot.
Not bad.
I was unable to set it and forget it, but it wasn't difficult to work with. It still seemed as if it was softening the resin, but I think that might've been in part due to my impatient nature with things like this. Another hour or so of work, and I think I'll have my pieces cleaned.
I did try another pair of experiments, however:
I glued 2 resin Epicast bases together and tried to "unglue" them with it. No luck. Apparently, this stuff does a better job with surface glue than it does with glued pieces.
After that failed, I checked the "resin softening" properties of the product. I drilled a hole in the glued bases and dripped some "Un-glue" in it. Sure enough, the edges of the hold became substantially easier to cut away. Quite rubbery. Not so much as to eat it away (like acetone does to plastic) or to make it so that handling it would leave fingerprints in the surface, but still something to take heed of.

The original is Un-Cure, but I have seen the same proguct listed online as Un-Glue... same bottle and everything.
In fact, my searches for "un-glue" also found some "Un-cure" links. Looks like I chose one of those.
My bottle says Un-cure.

Re: Resin vs. Acetone. What happens? Alternative to acetone?
Good to know for the future!
What about freezing the whole mess and then chipping it off the resin? I know that drastically reducing the temperature works wonders when detaching super-glued items from each other... just wondering if it might've worked in this case.
