What did you pay for the LR?
I am always in the market for weird and wonderful GW oddbitz and ephemera. PM me if you have something old/weird/rare.

62GBP shipping included, which is in my bracket for that model. There was another one for sale 2 days ago with a BIN at 180$+15$ shipping, i passed on that one.s_o_r_r_o_w wrote:What did you pay for the LR?
the last two i got before were both under 90$, complete with box, instruction and decals. i would probably go over 150$ for the RTB05 box if complete

Re: Am I that old....
while i'm waiting for the LR to show up, i'm playing with the GK dex...
here's what i see after a first read of it. note that i'm aware of the netlists flying around and even if it might be the killing all things armies i do not see them as challenging (for me and then for my opposite player.
Right now, full GK army is what i plan
HQ:
Grand Master
Sword
3 Servos Skulls
Psybolt
Cheap but effective. with I5 i do not see the need of Halberd, joining a unit of termies, ward is not necessary neither. servo skulls are there to control the deployment and try to get an advantage there.psybolt because of 5 extra points i have
Troop
10 termies
8 halberds
2 deamonhammers
2 psycannons
banner
can combat squad with half riding in the LR with the GM and half providing support with 2 psycannons, 2 deamonhammers for the kill, full halberd for i6 helped by the banner. or can deep strike as a offensive block of 10
2x
10 Strike GK
2 psycannins
razorback
psybolt
objectif holders and supports for the termies, can combat squad in case. psybolt razorback because 3 shots Str 6 at 36 inches is cheap and nice
Heavy support
Land Raider Reedemer
psyflame
purifying flames of hell... can either transport the half the termies for high impact or 10 Strike Gk for counter attack and mostly cause i love the FW model of it....
2x
Dreadknight
great sword
Psilencer
although i can see the utility of this entry, the model is awful...almost as awful as the stormraven. but i needed strong anti-infantry so the gatling psilencer will do as well as strong CCW.
Total: 1850
to go up to 2000pts, i'll add personnal teleporter on both dreadknights. by looking at it, i think there's a strong troop base with enough versatility it can handle most of the threats will achieving objectives. my main issue is Heavy support choice, if i was listening to me, i'll put 3 land raiders and call it done, but then it's quite limited in terms of options...
anyway, please have a go at it and also please please please no netlists comments, if i wanted to play purifiers list, i can copy paste it...
cheers

Re: Am I that old....
I don't build GK lists, but one of my buddies builds GREAT ones, and I know there are a few things he does that I can share.
BTW, if any of this matches netlists, it's coincidence. I don't look for them, and neither does he.
Psybolts. If it CAN have them, it SHOULD.
Good call on those servos. They are VERY effective and, if you ever face a Demons army, you'll be glad for them. Three Tz flamers DSing next to a unit and flaming them will kill a 10 man unit of PAGK with ease.
Temies are overpriced. You're better with a smaller unit & more PAGK's
Dreadknights don't work half as well as you'd think, based on how cool they look.
I'm not saying to SPAM Purifiers (that's the psycannon unit. Right? LOL), but you SHOULD have one or 2 units in there. They're CRAZY strong.

Re: Am I that old....
Thanks for the answer.
if i can kick both of Dreadknights out of the list, i might be able to fit a Purifier squad as well as some autocannons dreads...
i'll work on that once the kids sleep...
Cheers

Re: Am I that old....
quick uodate on the GK army list. taking into account that the first shot was missing bodies for 2000 pts and that the Dreadknights are not that great (model and rule-wise...)
HQ
Grand Master
3 servo skulls
sword
psibolts
same as above
Elite
10 Purifier
4 psycannons
hammer
4 halberd
razorback
psybolts
insert of Purifiers, a large squad for combat squad purpose. the idea behind is either leave as a 10 men squad joinning the GM in the Land Raider playing them aggressively or combat squad them, 5 in the Razorback and 5 with 4 psycannons on support
Troops
10 Strike
2 psycannons
razorback
psybolts
10 Strike
2 psycannons
razorback
psybolts
same as above
5 termies
1 psycannon
banner
1 hammers
4 halberds
downsized the termie squad a bit, i see it as a counter attack and/or support unit for the 2 Strike squads. possibility also to act as GM bodyguards if Purifiers are split in combat squads
Heavy Support
dreadnought
2 autocannons
psybolts
dreadnought
2 autocannons
psybolts
Out the dreadknights for 2 Psyriffle dreads. this adds more long range support for cheap and the 9 psycannons as well as 3 twin-linked psy heavy bolters are enough to cut down infantry
land raider redeemer
psyflame
same as above
Total is 1858, i can remove the 4 halberds on the Purifiers to go down to 1850... the list seems to me balanced so far, still unsure about the Termies, i like the idea, the models as well but feels a bit off to field only 5 of them.
for a 2000 pts list, probably psybolt to everyone and some grenades to the GM
as always C&C welcome
cheers

Re: Am I that old....
Man, I REALLY like this list. At 2000 points, I'd keep the same list, but tweak it so that you can get a 4th troop choice.
Also, the Grandmaster has one special ability (that I don't recall off hand) that is really good for making non-troops scoring. Pop that on your Purifiers then combat squad 'em and MAN, watch your opponent sweat!
LOL

Re: Am I that old....
was celebrating my vacations yesterday evening with painting....

Some PAGK, i'll bring the squad with me back home, with chance and not too much party, i'll be able to finish it before the end of the year, the goal is to finish that squad and buy another one, in order to not ending with 10 boxes of GK unassembled and unpainted that i'll trade in 3 months....
after a year of cleaning stuff and basement i have left:
-the RT army/collection: to be Imperial Fists, 6 models painted, they rest is mostly stripped/cleaned/repaired,
-my 2nd/3rd ed ultramarines: 3000 pts, 90% painted
-an FW pre-heresy army: to be modele as Iron Hands, including a Mars Pattern Fellblade, overall missing a couple of accessories, but as my grand ma said:"never order FW stuff before Xmas, the QA is worst than any other time during the year!"
-the 5 PAGK....
the issue is that my other hobby is starting to take more space in my basement...need the clean the crap...

i still got plenty of boxes i need to decided what i'm doing with it: sorting them or leaving them like that.....
little update on the Spartan, i'm waiting on drill bits small enough for my resin studs to be implanted, received a first batch of drill bits but needed size 41-60 and received 61-80....
for the list, looks cool to me also like that, i'll discussing it with my lads from my old gaming group over the break, they tend to play more competitive that i do, or did...
Anyway, probably the last post here for 2011, i wish all other fellow Btowners a happy holiday time and all the best for the next year
Cheers

Re: Am I that old....
End of the vacations back home, was fun, too much food, too much wine...just too much...
Anyway, in the news, i caught WM mk2 rule book as well as the Khador one, i tried several time to get into that game and failed all the times, let see if i can get a grip on that.
I enjoyed the boxing day at a local game store to get a couple of Blood Bowl Blisters as well (best one was 4 blisters of Elves Cheerleaders for 12$, that be fun to paint anyway. Went as well to a Hobby distributor who got a couple of Gundams models as well as Mr Hobby varnish and primers...
for 2012, i guess i can continue my restart to painting, at least twice a week, i didn't finish the 5 Grey Knights i planned on painting during my vacation, but i just need to finish the helmets and back backpack and they'll be good to go.
I plan for January:
- assemble and paint 1 Khador caster
- Finish the PAGK
- Finish the assembly of the Spartan
let's see if i can do that. I hope yes, and so i can start to get a routine of at least 1 unit per month painted...
on a note of RT Land raiders, Xmas day was a good for collectors, 2 of them ended on Feepay, i didn't get any of those as the prices were over my max bid. Don't know if it's the start of a new trend but both of them went for more than 170$ (both were on sprues with open boxes)
Anyway Back to Philly...
and God Jul all !!!

Re: Am I that old....
popped up earlier today on a well known forums. pic taken from the French White dwarf.

as far as the text goes:
-limited availability (probably while stock lasts)
-Finecast
-25 euros so probably 25-30us$
-on sale 02/25
beside that, it might be the only mini i'm going to order from GW this year, although the whole finecast thing is scarrying me a bit...
cheers
