Khador - 2nd Army, 3rd Division, 8th Kompany

Post by athelu »

No quarter 29 gives us a new (at least to me) khador paint scheme for the "Night crawlers" Khador - 2nd Army, 3rd Division, 8th Kompany. Until now, I had not decided how I wanted to paint my khador, but I like this scheme rather well. I have come to my first warjack - and I guess I need to figure out when enough is enough. You can go to town painting all the metal bits and stuff of these, but how much do you really "need" to do? Here is where I am at with my test model.

I am thinking I may paint the moving hydraulic/piston parts silver, but, and maybe the ball joints but that is probably it. I just do not want an entire "metallic" model. Thoughts? Anybody else struggle with this and their warjacks?

I think it looks good as is.

It would look a little better, though, if you took a few minutes to make the exhaust stacks look a little more used.
Maybe a brown-based wash or 2? Maybe blackening the tops a bit?

I think what this situation needs is some imagination.

Yeah - I will probably add some smoke weathering to the stacks. Will most likely use a pigment so that will be a final step. Thanks for the feedback. There are just so many gubbins on these things to paint, I am just trying to decide what needs to be something other than the body color.

Been a while, and I have been painting :)
I have decided I really like my Strahkov list and his fellows need to get some paint on them. The juggernaught was a test for the paint scheme - and here he is completed:

I went on with the same colorscheme/style to do Torch:

and the decimator (osip)

Those two are his battlegroup at the moment.

I hated the assault kommando models. I mean really hated them, so when I decided to do a strahkov list, and a theme list at that I was forced to run them. I looked at the model more and more and realized that what I hated was actually their heads; so with that in mind I searched the internets for some replacements. there were a few options out there, but what i settled on were the pig iron heads. They are a bit more "German" looking rather than "russian" but I like the models much much more with this small conversion.

The only other model to get fully painted so far in the list is my wardog. I love this little blighter. Somewhere I saw somebody paint him up as a rottweiler, and once I saw that I knew I had to do the same:
