Need to match an arm...

Post by TheRhino »

I'm working on a conversion of this Chaplain model:

I'm turning him into a counts-as Cassius. His powerfist arm long gone, but wouldn't match the gear for Cassius anyways.
I've fitted an extended, plastic Marine arm to his right side. I think it's from the Commander box. Problem is, it's freakin TINY compared to his crozius-bearing arm.
It looks like his crozius arm is wearing Mk3 Iron Armor, from the gauntlet shape.
So, I'm looking for a suitable replacement for the powerfist arm that is similarly-armored to the crozius arm. Can anyone think of anything? I'm going for a "both arms spread wide" pose, as I don't want a standard bolter arm across his body, blocking all that great detail on his armor. Plus, it's badass for him to be walking with arms wide into the hail of enemy gunfire, shots flickering off his Rosarius-generated force field.

I know Forgeworld makes sets of Mk3 armor now, but can't see spending that kinda cash on a whole set of Iron armor kits. It's a nice kit, but I just don't have the money for it right now.
My other idea was looking at some Chaos Marine models, as they all wear older, more baroque armor. I think they all have gauntlets on, which fits with Mk3. Some minor filing of arrows, and they'd work.
Any ideas?

I think what this situation needs is some imagination.

The Space Marine Chaplian with Jump pack has a nice outstretched arm -

I know it has the same weapon, but a chop at the wrist should fix that.

Unfortunately, that arm is molded right to the torso. It'd be a hell of a butcher job to get it free. :)

I ended up using part of a Terminator arm, attached to the stump of the outstretched Captain arm. I realized there was no way I was going to match the Crozius arm, despite a ton of bitz-Googling. It matches in bulk now, and I just need to add a few small rivets to the cuff, sculpt in the soft armor over the armpit, and it'll be golden.

That's what jeweler's saws are for!

Glad you found a solution though :)
