Ltd Ed Gideon Lorr re-released!!??!! WTF?
For those of you that don't read Dakkadakka I just saw a thread with a link to some of the "new" Grey Knight blisters. One of them is the previously "Limited Edition" Inquisitor Gideon Lorr. I wanted to spread the word so that nobody gets ripped off by somebody trying to sell/trade them for more than they are now worth before word gets out. I personally think it sucks big time even though I already have 2 of them I think I had to go to Games Day to get them (or some other far away event). Plus it's BS that they can just choose to re-release them when they were supposed to be something special. But whatever, I just don't have the energy anymore to bitch about GW and the offensive stuff that they do.
So to recap, buyer beware!!!!

Behold, and welcome to the Evil Empire of Gaming that is GW. Yet still we play their games.
I noticed this a little earlier while cruising GW's site. Kinda irked me as, like you, I picked the two I had up at a Games Day a few years ago.
I think I'm gonna have to call shenanigans on this one.
Go on, laugh! But one day, you'll be sitting in your house feeling all safe and secure... Then you'll look over and I'll be there... Doin'... stuff!

Kinda like the Games Day release only or Limited Edition female inquisitor that you could order through mail order for $6...................... Gone now, but used to really irk me when I saw ebay posts for it while it was available through mail order.

I can't decide how I feel about it. On one point, it ruins the collectability/value of the LE models. Then again, GW doesn't put out LE models so we can cash in on them later, so it's not like they did anything "evil" in that regard... they just re-released a model because they needed a model to fill a codex slot, and it was cheaper than having a new one made.
I'm not defending the act, mind you. I'm just commenting.

Well--they DID have the actual Daemon Hunter Inquisitors that they could have released.MagickalMemories wrote:they just re-released a model because they needed a model to fill a codex slot, and it was cheaper than having a new one made.
I've a small handful of these figs tucked away that I was sort of meaning to trade, and this is annoying.
The whole point of GW spinning something up as a limited release model is that we will all buy it RIGHT NOW and often pay a higher amount.
I do think it is a violation of the compact for them to turn around and release it as a general release later.
OTOH, if I hadn't bought some back then, I'd be sad if I could never get one.
I am always in the market for weird and wonderful GW oddbitz and ephemera. PM me if you have something old/weird/rare.

Well, it's not like they said they were destroying the molds after they sold them.

Re: Ltd Ed Gideon Lorr re-released!!??!! WTF?
i remember when 4th ed. came out. we received at the store a box full of gideon lorr, not even in blister, just the model in plastic bag that we were suposed to give to every customer buying the book and the BoM box set. we ended up putting them in the 'used' section after a while as so few people did purchase both items to get the model...
At least now GW tends to apply the same limited edition standard to all countries. used to be a time where a GD model in one country was available on the mail order of one other. the female commissar was GD 1998 USA and mail order in europe, the 1998 christmas marine as well. the emperor champion (2 handed sword) was event item in europe but available in store in canada while the Ad. Mech set was still available in Italy long after the end of the skulls program... beside the GD models and the unreleased and really limited releases items (2nd ed. squats, Ad. Mech heavy weapons...etc..) the only model that was a true limited edition is Sgt. Centurius, only available during the Apocalypse 100 event (pretty happy to have been there to get mine...). it's sad for collectors...
wait for the Bone Singer to be re-released...is it still available at GD's, i didn't check last year

Does this mean there's hope that I'll someday own the White Dwarf UK Subscription Marine Veteran without having to fork out 85 bucks?

I'm pretty sure the Black Library models will never be re-released either.

Re: Ltd Ed Gideon Lorr re-released!!??!! WTF?
Well the gideon lorr model has been taken down from the GW site. A post on the aforementioned site noted that it was a GW mistake to post him for sale as he was limited edition. That makes me a happy camper. That would have been the methaphoric straw that broke my camels back.

Yeah - makes me feel better about having one again. When he came out, I was out of state, and had to send my wife with very specific instructions on what to get. she was not super happy about having to drive an hour to get to the GW store, but she did it for me. Even she commented GW was stupid when I told her the story the other day.

- A simple 'not interested' to a trade offer is just being polite. It helps people setting up multiple trades know where they stand.

yeap...on the other hand, their sculpt are not the best in the world neither... were they mostly early Mark Bedford stuff?

They were sculpted by various sculptors, but yes, most were not the greatest. Leonatas was a Mike McVey original.
Although I do have the Daemonifuge set. The Silas Hand and Ephrael Stern models are two of the best they put out I think.

Re: Ltd Ed Gideon Lorr re-released!!??!! WTF?
I have heard a rumor has it that it was supposed to go on sale when the GK hit in april, not now. Just picked that up from an unverified source.
I do find it hard to believe someone loaded a graphic and price and SKU on the store accidentally. But, nothing is beyond GW for ineptness.

Didn't they "accidentally" post up a bunch of Blood Angels second wave a month before it was supposed to go up?
They also had the new Orc & Goblin battalion posted the other day. . .with a price of $0.
