TSR Dragon Quest vs HeroQuest etc.

I have vague (but fond) memories of playing the TSR game "Dragon Quest", which was sort of a D&D lite, IIRC.

The game in question game with plastic heroes, a set of virtually identical pewter heroes, and the bad guys were card stand ups.

Anyone else remember playing it?

How would you say it compares to Heroquest or Warhammer Quest? I have extensive collections of both those games, and enjoy them now and then (mostly then).

Also, did anyone play the "Dragon Strike" game by TSR? I never heard of it before I came across it today, browsing on eBay.

I still have the original Dungeon Quest...

The game is, 4 warrior starting in a corner, trying to get to the centre, where the dragon sleeps...once there you could steal a portion of the treasure then escape...the first one that came out was the winner. every turn you picked a tile in a pile and revealed it then put it on the board for your next move, it could be rooms, corridors, turns....and also events.

Hero Quest, was a licence with Milton Bradley (if i'm correct) a simpler version of Warhammer quest, using 4 warrior as a team. A few different scenario, 2 extensions...minis were not impressive, but I played a lot with my kids. Rules were simple.

They came out with Hero Quest Advance, that is very similar to warhammer Quest, no board game but all individual tiles, corridors, turns, rooms...different endings, better minis.

After the end of the Milton Bradley licence, Games workshop decided to produce it alone.
Warhammer Quest is based on the same concept, except that it was made for a group of 4 warriors. The difference is that the ending is always different in Warhammer quest...6 different ending, but working as a group helped a lot.

I prefer from far, warhammer quest...just for the teamwork job. Still have 2 copies of the game plus all the warriors and the 2 extensions...I love the game. (No I do not wish to sell it)

I recall DragonStrike.
I recall opening it, looking at what was inside, then returning the whole stupid thing to the store.
The miniatures weren't HALF the quality of what was shown on the box. They were nearly formless, with the fine details being as blunt as (or more than) some of the first released Mage Knight figures are. I was not impressed with the fundamentals of the game, either.

I remember seeing a full page add in lots of marvel comics for dragon strike, but didnt know a person at schuul who had it.

There were only about 3-4 magic the gathing players and they were well ahead of their time. It seemed very out of place when I saw them playing the first time on the concrete out side the commons.

Outside of common boardgames I didnt know gaming existed until yugioh(the cartoon and my love of monsters got me)

Dragonquest was an RPG by SPI that was released back in the 1980's.

It was a typical AD&D fantasy game. The rules had pecentile dice used,, instead of D20.

I had a couple copies of it. It only had 1 rule book; that covered both the GM/DM section and the players section.

It was different that AD&D in rules, stats, classes and the like; but it still was a fantasy RPG.

I believe there are still therapy groups out there for recovering Dragon Strike players and those that attempted to paint the minis.

At Origins, there was a booth selling the sprues of the miniatures for $10 a sprue, plus $5 for the gameboard. (That I almost bought)
