Starting a blog

Post by HarlequinZero »

So, who knows how this will work, but I've decided to start my own painting blog to try and help motivate me to paint! Anyways, take a look and tell me what you think. If you like, please become a follower and heckle me mercilessly if I fail to update regularly. Also, if anyone has any questions about how to paint something I can try to field them. I used to teach people how to paint occasionally. It's definitely not the same if it's not in person, but I can give you tips. (Something to break up the monotony of my not updating with regular painting updates. )

Brandon, you I envy. I could never churn out armies to the level you do. I think you must be partially robotic. I used to do commissions on and off WAAAY back when. But I only did it for characters. (Whether for Warhammer or RPGs. RPG gamers would pay really well to get their own personal character to look exactly the way they wanted it.) However, I quit because I couldn't take using my hobby for a paycheck. I wish I could, as I can paint reasonably well, but everytime I try mixing my hobby with work the hobby starts to become a chore instead of fun.

So Brandon, keep on keeping on; you give me pretty pictures to drool over everyweek.

I'm now a follower of your blog, Dave.

By the way, I've been, in my never ending compulsion to collect new model lines, looking at the Seeds of War 6mm stuff. Do you really like Future War Commander? Is that your recommended rules set for the scale? I've heard quite a lot of negatives about the actual Seeds of War game rules, but the models are fantastic for the scale. Hence, I'd like to find a good set of rules before I get more minis.

Thanks for joining it, I really need to update it. Hopefully this weekend.

I like it a lot, my rules of choice for the scale. One of the biggest draws for me is the unit creator they have for it and the simple fact you can pretty much steal any other stat line and apply it to the model of your choice. They did a great job with the army list if you don't want to mess around with stats.

Command and control is similar to warmaster so if you like that game the c&c rules are pretty similar.

I have Bitzjunkie building me a war torn city for the game. Epic armies are ported over very easily as well.

Cheers,
Dave

I have a Kraytonian force I need to paint up(still deciding on the paint scheme) to oppose the Pax Arcadia guys.

Its the opposite for me. It only got really interesting when I did it professionally. It's more exciting when you add deadlines, peoples expectations, bills counting on the finished work etc. I love it.

To be honest sometimes I wonder how much I would paint if it werent for work. When I paint for myself its mainly so I can have the list I want painted or to bring a crazy idea into fruition. But maybe thats why I have made Adepticon into what it is every year. I guess I am just the type of person that thrives under pressure and expectation and enjoy it and in many cases I put myself in it.

I have a blog too. Mine isnt gaming related, more of a clearinghouse for whatever thoughts I think are fit to print.
Needless to say when I am not exhausted and headed to bed, I will log and become followers to the above blogs.
Although I did write alot when I was getting my MFA.

Sad that this thread already has more activity than my blog... :(

Well, I'm working on some figures that should be done on Saturday so I'll try to post an update on Sunday.

Also, it's interesting seeing the other blogs people have posted.

It's not a shot at you. It's a shot at myself for not putting anything new up.

Although, that said, I just managed to throw up an update.
