Fixing a victrola?

Post by osloco »

Random question of the day! After my grandparents recently moving to an old folks home, I have been given their parents Orthophonic Victrola (1925), and a ton of old records. I was playing with it today and it seems to run a bit slowly, and the swing arm is damaged. I am pretty sure it probably needs a good clean out and oiling. Does anyone out there have any experience doing maintenance on these things, or can give me some advice on how to bring it back to original capacity?

I think what this situation needs is some imagination.

Thanks MM! I'll check those out right now. I was hoping with the random assortment of people here I might find someone who knows a bit, but at the same time it is a pretty random request :) On a good note, I found a PDF of a 1924 manual that helps.
