Random Rant
Ok, just thought I would randomly rant about 2 things.
1. No feedback. There have been a few individuals who have been great. I mean great in that they were generous and sent me things I needed without asking for anything at all in return. You can BET I gave them glowing feedback. This is because even though there was no actual "trade" or "sale", they went out of their way and put cash into postage to help another gamer out. However, when I sent someone something for free, I get complaints and no feedback at all. The item sent was exactly as I described and I took pains to make sure it took no damage in transit.
In other words, I implore you as members to give feedback for gifts as well as trades and sales.
2. Purposely using legal wordage. For example, if you agree to a trade, follow through with it. Dont agree to a trade using the phrase, "yes, its doable" or "sounds good to me" or other positive phrases that imply or say you are agreeing to a trade and then back out claiming "I did not use the actual words, yes we have an official trade" and then officially not having to follow through with your side of the bargain. Because then, you are leaving someone high and dry having already sent you an item to never get it back or what your part of the agreed trade was sent to them or at the least having taken the time and cash to package up the items to never be sent.

Re: Random Rant
It sounds like the second issue would be BTR/Backout material. If you have the entire log of communication, and sent your half of the deal but the other person did not, I would definitely consult with a mod IMMEDIATELY about having a valid BTR.
Re: Random Rant
Oh I can't believe that, you paid it forward so to speak and got complaints for free stuff?

Re: Random Rant
Speaking to your point #2.
You opened a Backout with another member, who asked Staff to look it over. We did. We discussed. We came to a consensus that the deal you were concerned about was NOT a Backout. 100% staff agreement. This is NOT the place to bring that issue up again.

Re: Random Rant
I am not bringing up any past issues at all. Just asking people to be more specific in their responses and to not purposely use answers like the examples given in order to leave an "out".
I realize that the issue you are bringing up was handled and the matter is finished. That is why I did not bring it up myself.

Then reword your second point. At this moment, it reads like you are Ranting ABOUT people deliberately using Legal Wordage

Re: Random Rant
If someone uses phrases like
"sounds fair to me, sure"
"Sounds like a deal"
""Its doable"
"you're cool with that?"
"I'm cool with that"
Or other positive phrases that imply a deal with the intentions of it being a deal, they should follow through. Too many times, people will uses phrases such as the ones given with the sole purpose of leaving them self an "out" in case they change their mind and be able to say " exactly where did I say "yes, that is an official deal". Some may even do it with the sole intention of having stuff sent to them and not have to send payment or trade.
This is not mentioning or talking about any particular people or incidents and my GREATEST apologies in case someone mistook the post and assumed it was about any particular incident or person. The intention was to say that this sort of thing could cause hard feelings or sticky situations in case it were to happen.
@Gaijin18, I believe that people like that know who they are and just dont care that they make the site look bad.

Re: Random Rant
Then I suggest you ask them for a straight answer when trading. Your goal is to get the other guy to say, "It's a deal", or "Yes, we can do that." Don't let their verbiage leave any out.

Your words:

It doesnt warrant any feedback. There was no trade or sale.

This is great that it does happen, but it doesn't show the true mettle of a trader. Someone going and jacking up their references with little bits and such that is NOT a trade or sale just pads their references and makes it look like they are a seasoned trader. The truth is that they are out very little, and have jumped up a couple notches where they can ask less "referenced" traders to send first and such. Not saying that they are cleverly building the master scam, but it COULD happen.

Lower rating? I ask that you ship first. Also, if I offer a stupidly good deal and you try to negotiate even lower...don't call it bad communication that you didn't get a reply. I deleted the message.

Re: Random Rant
Your right Ironhide, that was my fault in assuming that others were as honest as myself in the case that porky brought up.
That was why I was careful to not mention that circumstance. However it does set a demonstrate that people can use phrases such as those to trick people into sending packages thinking that there is a deal only to find the person who is supposed to pay for the package/send items in return claim that they did not say the exact words "we have an official deal" and keep what was sent for free. Assume that you yourself make a deal with someone to sell them a 3,000 point SoB army of all metal models worth $2,000.00 (random number, not sure of exact values) where the person contacted you asking what you wanted for it. You say "$1000.00, that sound good to you?". They reply with "Sounds good to me, I have a higher rating so you need to send to me first. Here is my address". They receive your army and when you ask about payment, they say "we didnt have a deal, you just sent me a free army. Thanks a million". By not saying the exact words "yes, we have a deal" he left himself an out and you dont have a leg to stand on here to complain. That is an extreme example but you get the picture.
I made the post to ask people to not pull those stunts. Not anyone in particular of course, just in general. The majority of people I have dealt with here seem to be "good people" that I would trade/deal with anytime. If there are a large number of people who do that sort of thing, it can make people leary.
Starslayer, that is exactly the attitude I was talking about. Going around saying "gimmie gimmie gimmie without even a thank you for what people go out of their way to give you is just rude. I realize that that is not considered so across the whole world but in the part of America I am from it is anyways. You are free to disagree with me and you have.
Stanislav, you actually bring about a good point. Making deals with people to pad one another's references like you describe should actually be against the rules. You cannot assume though that everyone who is willing to help another out by sending them something for free is doing that. Many of us are actually just trying to help one another out. Especially in the case of sending something that is oop to someone who needs it to finish their army/card deck or whatnot.

Re: Random Rant
Now you are being silly. I havent seen anything like that happen here, and Ive been here awhile. I dont see why its such a hassle. Just ask point blank: "Do we have a deal? Yes or No? My 10 tactical marines new on sprue with all bits for your 20 assembled bare plastic 40K orcs. I'll send first because you have a much higher rating."
Easy. Ive done 150+ trades and havent had any problem with "wording". I think you are making it a bigger problem than it really is- due to your past.

EE,
I was just bringing up a point. Have I helped out a fellow gamer on Bartertown? Yep, many times. I got a "thanks", but I never expected a ref or anything. I did it out of kindness, that I even got the thanks was a bonus.

LMAO! For what? See. Who would want to deal with that attitude? Soon as someone doesnt agree , you go off. I stated nothing agianst you. I just posted my opinion that you are making it a bigger deal than it is. Go ahead and report away.
Dont post here if you dont want other opinions.
Take a long look at your posts & your attitude. Maybe you'll find the reason you dont get positive feedback.
