Real or fake GW minis?

Post by kturock »

OK. I just got some Flesh hounds of Khorne in a deal; from ebay..The add says 10 multi-part minis. They are NoS. Yes, sprue, so plastic. All of the other hounds I have, as well as the ones for sale on the GW site are metal. The ad show the correct box from the GW site. The guy has an ebay store, and a brick-n-mortar store a couple hours away. He's got a 20k+ rating.

The sprues came in a plastic bag, like a zip-lock bag. No instructions, no box. No big deal, but....
Nowhere on the sprue, or on the cavalry bases is the "GW" logo. Which is unusal. Every sprue I've ever got has/had GW or Games Workshop somewhere on it.

There are 5 models on a 'side'; thee are 2 'sides'. Each hound has 2 pieces and a couple stray 'horns'. The neck 'fin', that looks like it's off a velosiraptor, is aslo missing.

Has anyone else seen hounds like this? Are they real and a new GW sculpt, or are they from something else?

Now, I'm really starting to like working with the newer plastic models as compared to the metal ones. [instant glue isn't instant on anything but skin.]
Heh, I was called a Grognard. ;-)

No chance they might be Dire Wolves, maybe? Those were a plastic sprue.

As far as I know, never has GW released plastic Khorne hounds.

The ad says hounds of Khorne. I'll look at the Dire wolves on GW's site.

Yup, that's them..

I searched chaos hounds, and got the chaos hounds for the vampire counts also.

both wolves and hounds look very similiar, but the boxes are different. It appears it was for the chaos hounds of the vampire counts.

10 plastic or 4 metal; both the same price.

It's still funny that GW's logo or name isn't on the sprues. The sprue is bigger than the average GW box. Maybe they came from a bigger box set?

Legit. They're Warhounds, not Flesh Hounds. That's why there is no neck frill.

GW stamp or not, the detail is too good to be a home cast, and it's not like high pressure plastic molds are a dime a dozen.

This listing has the same kit:

The ad, upon review, says "Chaos Hounds".
I thougth there was only 1 type, since both the Fantasy and 40k sections showed just the Khorne hounds.

It was only after Pork, said they looked like wolves, did I search on the GW site, and thus got the pics from it.

Thaks all for the answer. I'll use them as the khorne hounds, they're twice as many for the same price, and it's easier to work with the plastic over the metal.

actually even cheaper, it's $22 for the 10 plastic hounds but $35 for the 5 metal hounds.
