Bad Trader Report for "steck"
hello,
pretty basic really. we both had small dollar amounts of bits that the other wanted. we sent at the same time. and neither of us used confirmation due to the small dollar amount. he received the shipment i sent. i to this day have never received anything from him. he states he's shipped again after the first failed attempt. after sending a bunch of PMs, he's finally stopped replying. i even have 5 PMs still in my out box that he's never "received". his profile shows he hasn't logged in since March. i get the impression he's a kid, and probably has forgotten all about it. i mainly don't won't him to get away with this one and then turn around and try to do something similar to someone else for a greater dollar amount.
here's most of our back and forth:

ill try and get pics up this weekend
im looking for chaos marines (most anything and guard bits (msg me about these).

hey,
did you want cadian or catachan?
i've got both. the catachan are the
more "muscled up" of the 2, and
might make better heretics, imho.
i can get a pile of bits together and
email you pics if you want.

i'll take it all. i'm not that interested in the barrels, though.
i gathered up enough bits to
make 5 of each type. i also
threw in some 3 voxes, 4 grenade launchers,
sgt bits, ammo packs... basicly enough to fill almost
2 open palms. i'd feel better showing you what i'm
offering. do you ever go to ( a gaming forum)?
here's a link my gallery on ++++++. i put the pics
on there. they're all new from the sprue.

the 2 pics of the bit piles are what i'm offering.

and if anything shows up twice, i will ship back the extra.

hey
i did a little research at the post office this morning. i found out that if you send it in "thin" paper like envelope, they run it through a machine. they told me they get hung up and destoyed in the machine. so if you mail something that's not paper, use a padded envelope or box. not sure if that aplies to how you mailed the bits, but FYI.

as you can see, no reply from him after March 21st. i tried to be patient. and i think i waited long enough. so, if anyone has any dealings with him in the future, beware.

Re: Bad Trader Report for "steck"
Well, first off, THANK YOU for making a legible BTR. Many people just don't seem to understand how much better it makes things when you put your contacts in chronological order.
So, thanks for that. I actually read ALL of them. LOL
Now...
I see you posted Steck's address, but not his name. Did he give you his name?
If so, please post it.
Using the email he signed up with, I emailed him a link to this post and asked him to log in and address it.
We'll see how it goes.
Eric
P.S. This is a good example why people should always insisit on a D.C. # on both sides of every trade, every time. Either side could have claimed to not get bits when they DID get them, and the other guy would be none the wiser.

Re: Bad Trader Report for "steck"
That's another reason for your hackles to be raised.
Why wouldn't someone want to give you their REAL name?
I did a little looking and I'm not liking what I see:
http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=370 ... e&resnum=1
Looking at this, it looks like it MIGHT be in the city... which means a possible BUSINESS delivery address.
So, I put the address into http://www.zillow.com. it's a real estate site that shows home values, but it has the added benefit of utilizing Google Earth images. if it's a home or business, it'll show an image of the building:
http://www.zillow.com/homes/map/3706-s. ... -64052_rb/
Note the white box near the top left of the image.

Re: Bad Trader Report for "steck"
Then again... I poked around a little more.
http://www.zillow.com/homes/map/3706-de ... ect/18_zm/
The house behind the big white building SHOULD be 3706, but isn't registering. I'm wondering it it's owned by a business and, therefore, not in the database. The house tight under it is 3708.
Wish I could get an address on that White building.
Hmm...
Okay... sometimes, I even scare myself.
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&i ... _medium=ha
That's WEIRD.
http://www.nativityofmary.org/
You know, sometimes, when a Parish owns a property that's attached to it, the property takes on the Parish's address. If it's a smaller area (say, Independence, MO, for example), then the USPS might still deliver to that old adress.
I tried calling the Parish office. I got a voice mail that their office hours are 9 (or 9:30) to 3, Mon - Fri.
Might be worth a call Monday or Tuesday (they are probably closed for memorial Day, Monday) and just inquire about it. if you explain to the person, HONESTLY, why you're calling, they're probably gonna be REAL helpful.
You know, often, it's someone who works for the church (like the pastor) that lives in those types of properties. this seems to be Catholic, however, so I doubt it's that. You never know, though. Might be the principal (or whatever) of their school... who might have kids...

Re: Bad Trader Report for "steck"
that is weird. even more so because he received his bits at the listed address. if my hunch is right and he's a kid, maybe it's a parents work address. that would explain it being an address for a commercial site.

Re: Bad Trader Report for "steck"
Well, if you look at the image, it clearly "lines up" to be the small house behind the big white building... the one whose porch is obscured by trees...
I'm really thinking more along the lines of "staff" (of some sort) housing. Seems to obviously BAD of an idea to have stuff sent to your parents at their work if you intend on ripping the person off, since that person can easily just contact their work via mail. Even most kids, I think, wouldn't do that.
... I should clarify... I'm fully willing to accept that this is a big mix up on Steck's part, and NOT a scam. I'm just covering all the bases I would cover *IF* it was a scam.
I'd suggest a phone call Tuesday. Just tell them you have some weird questions but, if they bare with you, everything will make sense... Also, maybe try to convince them that you're not crazy. LOL That always helps when calling strangers on the phone and asking them what seems (to them) to be random questions.
If you can find out about the house on Delridge that is right behind the white roofed building on E 36 Terrace (maybe let them know you got this information from sattelite images online from Google), that's probably the first step in getting your resolution.
