Underage Traders

Post by DavrosRTS »

Hey, this may be an odd question. Is there anyway to mark a trader that is under 18 years old? Not that I have a problem with trading with minors but it seems a Major part of the bad trades seem to come from lil kids who think they can get away with stuff. I thought you had to be 18 to join the site, isn't there a way to tag the kids? Just wondering, Thanks.

Also, why can't the profile be a little more detailed...i.e. REQUIRE a person to include Full Name, Age, and a Joined on date?

its so easy to fake an age though, I cant see that really solving the problem you presented. All the kid would have to do was say he was born a few years earlier

True, but then we have intent. Pourposely lying about your age just adds another nail in the legal coffin.

Also remember peeps, you can always ask for their phone # and call them to make sure that they dont sound like a little kid.

Worst case its also a great way to talk to mommy and daddy about the illegal activities JR is involved in....

I have only done 2 trades with traders who I really believed to be kids.

Sorry, underage guys, but I ALWAYS require you to ship first.

It's a good thing I do, too.

The first one took a LONG time to send his stuff.

The second took even longer and, when it arrived, it was TOTALLY not in the condition expected. It got a "return to sender" with the quickness.

Lower rating? You ship first.

I would have no Problem putting my actual age im only 15, But i seem to have a good amount of trades done and have a name for my self, But peoples age would be nice, and also when they joined.

I agree with Magical although it kinda screws me, i think younger sender should send first, unless they have a good amount of trades done, and can prove that there 16+

I may have agreed with the whole underage business.... right up until scrumhalf said he was 15.

Your behaviour has in no way been indicative of a 15 year old.

As far as I'm concerned, age has no bearing on a persons' inclination to break the law.

I'll stick to feedback to determine who sends first; age can stay out of it as far as I'm concerned.
mon·ey: noun; a good that acts as a medium of exchange in transactions.
Money is a good like everything else; if your rating is lower, you ship first whether money is involved or not.

Scrum...
Dang.

::picks up jaw::

Who'da thunk it?

Scrum, in no way have you conducted yourself here like any 15 year old *I* have ever known. Kudos to you, man.

I think that, what you said, sums it up.
i think younger sender should send first, unless they have a good amount of trades done, and can proce that there 16+
I'd drop the 16+, though.

My feeling is on perceived age.
If you typed in all lowercase, without punctuation, and with horrendous spelling, my opinion of you would differ.

Like 'Sid said, though... Your behavior is not indicative of your age. What it IS indicative of, however, is your character.
That takes priority, in my book.

Would I trade with you, given the opportunity? Heck, yeah. Would I ship first? NO. But I *WOULD* trust you enough to ship at the same time.

...and from ME (Mr. Cautious), that is saying a lot.
LOL

Well, I am only 16, and while i have had one of my three trades thus far go wrong, it was not because of my age, it was because of a simple oversight on me... i did not inspect my product well, and i screwed up, but my other two trades have/are going smoothly... So, if you are able to conduct yourself in a way that shows maturity, then i think age is irrevlevant...

okay...
First of all, I officially amend my earlier comment FROM "perceived age" TO "perceived maturity."

Taggerd: You took my comment out of context... I was referring to Scrumhalf in that comment. In that case, it was a specific statement and not a general one.

That being said, I don't assume anything negative of you because based on grammar, etc. because I know your reputation here from experience...

If, however, I was NEW here, knew nobody, and was looking at who I was going to trade with... and I had to chose between you and someone with perfect spelling, grammar, etc., and the trade was the EXACT same (and both had the exact same rating), I'd go with the perfect grammar, etc. every time.

NOT ALWAYS, but often enough, it is a good sign of how someone is in general. If they can't take the time to put a period at the end of their sentences, how do I know they'll take the time to double check to ensure everything is in the package that should be?

Again, this does not pertain to YOU, as I know your reputation. It was merely a hypothetical.
No offense intended.
I never intend to offend people I like.

Caribou:
Barring the fact that you didn't capitalize the word "I" in that post (I can usually ignore that... but I AM admittedly *edit*), you wrote your post in a perfectly fine manner. I would not have assumed you to be a teenager, either. Shoot. How many teen agers do most of us know who use the phrase "thus far."

Perception is everything.

So, if you are able to conduct yourself in a way that shows maturity, then i think age is irrevlevant...
Sir, I could not agree more.

meh, im turning 15 in october, and my spelling can be pretty bad sometimes, and i never capitalize unless its something that matters like an email or something. if you wanted to me to ship first, and you had a good rating, id be happy to do it.

Require your country

Post by orcdom »

i made a trade with scrum as well, i dont think its the issue of age really. because they will just like about thier age if they are out to screw someone.

what i do want to see required is the country you live in. because if its just 1 or 2 things smallish i want, it would have to be damn near free to cover the extra postage across the pond or to canada. and suck to find out where they live after you either have or almost have a trade completed.
