Mathias,
I understand that, but Riddler said that he dealt with him before. I take this as they have traded on another forum as there are no references to or from on Riddler's rep. I have seen on other messages here on Btown that others have traded successfully on other forums.

Did you happen to look directly at the_traders references?

I clearly see him.

Brian

Maybe because he used money from bad trades here on BT to pay for it?

I've only ever sold items to him on Bartertown. If an admin would like to contact me I'll give the info I have about him.

He is 100% in the UK.

MM- well if I was 6 miles from this guy's house- I would be paying him a visit.

I'd just like to hear one of these victims doing something instead of crying here.

Redstarone- As to his choice of trade partners- You tell me, since you know all. The vast majority of his trade partners were out of the UK & far away. Gee, you think that wasnt planned??

Basically-victims- I feel for you. But stand up or shut up.

Wanting to do something is not crying. Actually being able to do something is very different. What would you suggest we actually try to do??

WHAT exactly are you waiting for???? Wake up. This guy will NOT return your money voluntarily. Are you going to let him keep your money AND get away with it unpunished??? Just wait. Thats the ticket- wait. Im sure he'll have a change of heart any day now.

What to do? Did you research your options on that device you are now using? There are sites & info on everything on the net. You have his contact info. File a Paypal dispute. Call his home. Call his local PD. Write a letter. Anything. Something. Not waiting.

Has ANYONE done ANYTHING ??? Besides waiting.

Now you're just being a rude, agressive ass. Just because we haven't posted our every action for you to read, dosent mean those ideas have not been explored. You're getting so excited about this, you tip every hand just be hear yourself be angry.

I just thought you might have something usefull we haven't thought of or tried. Oh, and letters take a while to get there.

No, it's just you have a tendency to fly off the handle. We're not under any obligation to post our every move here, and while I've opened a paypal dispute, tracking down and calling his local constabulary isn't going to amount to much when I only have a direct evidence of a $35 grievance in the process of being resolved.
These things happen.

Open and official warning to everyone.

I, as well as some of the other staff members, have noticed an escalation of tempers lately. Not just in these "the_trader" threads, either. It's been a bit more epedemic than that.

So, here it is:

The Bartertown Forum Rules-
viewtopic.php?f=44&t=45470

Learn them. Know them. Love them. Live by them (while on BTown).

Please, pay close attention to Rule # 6:
Rule #6: Be Polite.
I had wanted to keep things lighthearted, but some people feel the need to be snide, rude, and otherwise act inappropriately. Please note that abusive or inappropriate language towards any other Bartertown user is not acceptable - doubly so when directed at a moderator or administrator who notifies you of a rule violation. We reserve the right to escalate the consequence you've earned if you decide to vent at us. The definition of "abusive or inappropriate language" is at moderator/administrator discretion.

(Emphasis NOT mine.)

Drop the hostility in the forums, and drop it now. This is a warning to everyone. We're going to start enforcing Rule #6 more actively for a while, until things cool back down.

Note that this message, literally, is NOT directed at any one, two, five or even ten users. It's for everyone.
Chill out. Proofread your post. If it seems like it MIGHT be hostile... rework it a bit.

If this is a problem for anyone, I encourage you to PM Linrandir and take it up with him. Please, be sure to include a link to this thread.

Ok, no problem. Do something or do nothing. I dont care. My money is in my pocket. I also have nothing to fear from future thieves like this, because I would never be naive enough to send money first to a newbie from another country. Do not PM me about any more problems with this guy. I will not comment in any more "The Trader" threads.

Good luck.
