Give me a Hell Yeah! I'm sorry, does this look like Ebay? Does it have the cute little primary-colours logo on every page? Does it throw Paypal down your throat? Didn't think so. If I wanted to view Ebay ratings I'd use Ebay.ekister wrote:...and the whole "check my eBay rating" is complete BS...

Don't get me wrong, the people that use Ebay, congrats.
The people that use Paypal, if it works for you, great.
I'm on Bartertown because it's where I made my first few successful deals after being completely screwed by a kid in Britain (tracked down and resolved). Bartertown has never done me wrong on deals that I've made, but out of the people that have joined in the last year that I've conversed with, they seem to take it a whole lot less serious than the veterans to the site. I'm not saying that no rating/low rating/newer than 1 year individuals to the site are gonna jerk you around, but every one (with the exception to BTP) has frustrated me to no end.
The way I deal is:
Post
Check replies - If a party is interested and offer matches min-reqs, it's pending. All other offers are 'listed' and told that they are 'listed'. If Party A backs out, Party B is then pending if they're still interested and the offer matches min-reqs.
I have 2 accounts... only because someone popped references under my personal email address rather than listening when I asked for them to be posted under this account email address. My rating is under 20, but that's partly because I had a period where people seemed to ignore the posting-references part of deals. I simply don't have the time or money to persue every avenue of gaming interest that I have, so my 'leftovers' and 'bored-with' deals are few and far between. Hell half the time I make deals for crap that I have no immediate use for, and then that hits the trading block in a short time after. So don't be surprised to see Wolf-riders or 5th ed Bretonnian knights appear shortly
It just annoys me to think that Bartertown has drifted steadily downwards over the last few years into a slump of people just trying to get something for nothing. I know that's partly the name of the game, to get as much as you can for as little as you have to offer, but as ekister said, I've gotten a myraid of offers lately at MAYBE half retail values. I guess this could be partly my fault...
My last post I said, and if people read the entire post they would see, that I was trading retail for retail, selling for 50% retail, BUT IF you had items on a select list that I had posted, I was willing to trade at about 50% retail.... I promptly got offered 3 50% retail trades for stuff that wasn't on my list...
Bah well, BTP has finalized the deal, just waiting to recieve-and-ship out now.. so hopefully that bout of bad luck is behind me.
