I really hate to do this, but sadly, I'm now pretty certain this guy is fake.

I guess I should have guessed by him responding to my post claiming to have 10 SMS turrets lying around (when I thought I was grasping for 1-2!). Reading his other posts I notice that he claims to be selling stuff in $ yet he's here in the UK, has offered to ship a dozen tanks to the US for $5 shipping, and various other posts that make me think he's just a wind-up merchant. He's tried to set up lots of deals with lots of stuff as soon as he joined it seems.

I was mildly suspicious when he wouldn't give me an address, but insisted he's put it in the box with his stuff (I made sure he shipped first) I guess I know why now. He is on this site almost every day, and regularly, yet never responds to mail unless chased a lot, and then blames 'browser issues' for his lack of contact (ones that don't stop him accessing the site apparently), and his excuse about having posted 2 weeks back, but there was a big delay at his depot sounded pure hokum, and is not borne out when I talked to our post office.

In a word - fake... I've not lost anything but time and effort since I insisted he send first. I'm guessing he is hoping to not have to send first, or to get Paypal or something wired before he 'sends'

I've cut out all the preliminary mails, and cut to where we agreed a deal

Okay, I've done a little research - I didn't want either of us losing out valuewise. The Vet (04 Subscription model) seems to be worth £45-55, as do the similar SM LE models (the 04 Armydeal model seems to be similarly popular). There are two of these up for auction on eBay atm - one at £45 and one at £56, and one sold last week in the UK for £45, so the pricepoint seems pretty established. (URL's at the bottom if you'd like to check).

Valuewise I think something like NIB =100%, Clipped = 90%, Primed = 60%, Painted = 30% (unless proppainted and the right colours). I've actually used taken clipped at 100% and primed at 70% here though.

SMS Turrets are about 20% of a Hammerhead sprue (£8) so about £1.60 x10 items = £16
Devilfish primed is 70% of £20 = £14
Crisis Suit primed is £70% £12 = £8.40
3 Firewarriors new is 25% of £18 = £4.50
2 FireWarriors primed is 70% of (16.7% of £18 = £3) = £2.10

Which totals £45 exactly!

Would you be happy for a straight swap of the various Tau bits you have for the Vet?

Great. Well normal process here is the one with lower BT refs sends first - particularly since you've only been here a few days. I hope you understand. I'm afraid you also have more to package up! lol

I'm not bothered about it going Special Delivery, etc if you aren't - as long as it's well packaged.

My address is:

<removed>

Tel: <removed>
MSN: <removed>

I'll get yours packed up, and ready so it can go staight out once I receive yours. Obviously I'll need you address too! lol

If you could let me know when it's been sent, it would help too.

I see my postmen every day, and we get a card if they call and I'm not around. I'll ask him if there's problems this end though.

There's no major delays in the system this far from Christmas according to our post office, and any delay would be at the destination sorting office rather than yours. There certainly doesn't seem to be a reason why it would have taken more than 10 days...

Now that's he's said he's looking for a tracking number in two threads, I'm curious to see what will actually happen within an hour or two.

He/we are in the UK, so certainly no USPS. We can get a proof of posting, but that has no tracking info - Special Delivery is the tracking service, but it's only in the UK. Sending abroad, we can only track as far as customs, and after that it's gone. Courier is the only way around that, but that is very expensive.

This is looking really bad. File for Paypal refunds immediately. You can always cancel later. Sending funds to other countries to an unknow/unproven trader is a BAD idea.
It looks like he was trying to make as many deals as quick as possible. Now he's stalling.

He's on every day, usually several times. Never answers mail though.

Several days later, there's still been no PM with tracking number, which I'm sure didn't exist, but that's what I expected. thankfully he has no money and goods of mine.

Hmm well this is a strange case.

Ive been in semi regular contact with the_trader for almost 2 months. In that time we have discussed me possible commissions. He finally settled on an idea for 2 large scale commissions maybe 5-6 days ago.

Now normally, I wouldnt buy any supplies need for a commission until ive been sent the cost for them as a down payment. Because we had been in pretty good communication, and he seemed like a trust worthy guy, I went ahead and got the supplies. When I did I told him I wasnt in a super rush or anything for the supply costs but wouldnt get started until I had it.

After seeing this thread, ive sent him an email and we shall see where it goes.

That said, he sent me his address and in now way ever seemed shaddy in our deal. That said, it does seem a tad bit strange with him not staying in better contact with you. But honestly, he may have and still is having problems as I send him emails everyday or anything.

So far it does seem like a justifyed backout just by the fact he didnt come back after an our or 2 with the tracking number. But, it does seem to have only been 1 week total since the deal was agreed too. I personally have had some times where ive had delayed shipping. And to me, 1 week isnt that long of a time.

I hope it all works out and hey, if not, at least you didnt send anything.

Time well tell.....but it doesnt look good. He doesnt reply to PM's, but logs in. He hasnt answered this thread since either. He has done a large amount of deals in a short time, is new with 0 refs, but wants payment first.....
These are things that should put your guard up.

...but he's only been a member of the site for 3 weeks?

Could this be someone else? ...or has he got more than one account?

I hope you are right btw, and it's nothing. But to be honest lots of stuff didn't hang together, and after seeing other peoples troubles, and reading his other posts, I thought I had better post. Naturally I shall retract and apologise if proved wrong.
