Incomplete Trade: D. Sanchez

Post by Kaptain Von »

It all started with this thread, subject: H: Cryx, Mercs; W: £££, Figure Cases, Misc. Minis (see post)

Hey I have Hordes minions the Totem Hunter, Swamp gobbers, a full unit of Gatormen, and the Bone grinders. I'm looking to get Goreshade with the Deathwalker and the Satyxis Raiders. Let me know what you want out of my minions.

To be honest, I'm interested in all that stuff! Err... if I had to narrow it down, the Swamp Gobbers and Bone Grinders are what leap out at me, Gatormen at a close second. That said, if you wanted to do a straight swap of all my assorted Cryxies for all your Minions, I wouldn't necessarily be averse to that either...

I'll trade you the swamp gobbers and the bone grinders for goreshade, the deathwalker, and the satyxis raiders. I'm not really interested in the rest, but I'm looking for more satyxis raiders, dark elf witch elves, and dark elf executioners. The satyxis raiders are for an all witch elf army. If you could get me that stuff or more raiders or the satyxis sea witch I'll trade you for the rest of my stuff. I also have a huge Legion army I'm want to get rid off trade or sell. Let me know if you want to trade and I will ship right away. Also send me your address. My address is:

Andres Salinas
506 Cedar Hill drive
Allentown, PA 18109

Thanks.

Okay: I'll trade you Goreshade, the Deathwalker and four Satyxis Raiders for the Swamp Gobbers and Bone Grinders.

My address:
Jon Garrad
*snipped*
Plymouth
Devon
UK

I'll be able to ship them out tomorrow (maybe today, but I doubt it).
Are you okay with my shipping policy? I pay for your stuff to come to me, you pay for mine to come to you?

I'll trade, no problem. How about you pay for the shipment you're making and I pay for the shipping I'm making. If you or I were shipping something huge I could see your reason for your shipping policy but it's really small stuff we're shipping. Kool? I'll try to ship by tomorrow but definitely by monday. Have to work, depends on what time I get off to the post office. Also I'm on ebay Seekthis69 if you want to check my feedback and I already have 2 positives here.

Yeah, I see the sense in that. Okay. My stuff will be shipping out on Monday at the latest.

All the best,
-- Von

At this stage, we've agreed to trade, we've agreed how and when to ship, and all appears well - we'll both be shipping on Monday 3rd August.
On that date, I paid for online postage and received the following email (which I'm afraid is all the Proof of Postage I have - if it's not good enough, I'll take a hike).

Hey chap,

Just thought I'd let you know that I shipped out your stuff on Monday, and it's probably creeping its way across the Atlantic by now. :-D

A fortnight later, I've received no models, and no acknowledgment that mine have arrived. Concerned about both sides of the trade, I decide on an enquiry.

Hey chief,

any news on whether or not those Cryx have arrived with you yet?

No response was forthcoming. Perhaps he was having trouble with his Bartertown account?

Hey dude,

I've sent you a couple of PMs on Bartertown that haven't been replied to. Is everything okay? Have the Cryx arrived? Have the Minions been posted? It's been a month since I sent off my stuff, I'm going to be moving house in a couple of weeks, and I could use knowing what's going on with this trade.

Thanks for your time,

-- Jon
Still nothing. By the way, I know I have two email addresses. The one with my real name is used for dealing with professional bodies like the Royal Mail, the other for general correspondence. This has had no negative consequences to date.

Back to Sanchez. In the fellow's defence, there is a reference to "a minor (but understandable) shipping delay" on his reference page, but a search of the Bartertown boards reveals no public explanation of this understandable delay - only his two trade ads.

I think that covers everything. If you're back online, Sanchez, drop me a PM any time after next Monday and we'll sort this out pronto.

I assume as you shipped overseas you nedeed to fill out the customs forms also? You may be able to track the shipment via customs. What was the customs form number for that?

Doh.. double post.. sorry. I hit enter which submitted.

Also this doesn't excuse the no contact issues. I would see about tracking the shipment via customs as there really is no proof he receieved or honestly that you actually shipped. Only that you had purchased postage. The customs form though should show it was in fact picked up. Check the general discussion threads as I believe there is a post there discussing tracking via customs.

Just some thoughts. I hope you get this all cleared up.

This maybe will not resolve your case but...

It happens that I just finished a trade with him of a $300.00 value and everything went accordingly with tracking numbers & all. He answered all my PM and nothing went wrong...

I just posted a positive feedback for him on that matter.

Now, last night, I was reading the Bad Trader forum & saw his name in there, I posted him about it, just to asking him to clear his name out of it.

It may be because that this trade was resolved but why would it still be here? any update on this would help, since this was from 2008 and we are now in May 2011.

• Pictures are available upon request.
• I ship using Canada Post / USPS and expect the same in return. NO COURIER SERVICES! Ridiculous customs fees with them.

The OP hasn't logged into the site in almost a year.
It very well may be that the trade was never resolved & he just got disillusioned and gave up on online trading.
It may also be that the trade was resolved and the OP never bothered to update the thread (& the accused never bothered to refute it).
All valid BTR's remain in the public eye, even after they're resolved. So, the fact that this one's so old really doesn't mean anything.

You would be right there, although running out of things to trade was definitely a contributing factor as well. After my Isengard stuff went and it looked like this was a write-off I just sort of... forgot that I had a membership here. Apologies for any breach of etiquette resulting.

Trades: I'm happy to ship first. Ideally, you pay my shipping costs, and I pay yours, as a guarantee that all parties are equally invested in the deal.
Sales: I ship when you pay shipping costs. Can't afford to work any other way.
