Re: Incomplete Trade: oyowzas
Just thought I'd add one comment here.
I've conducted 2-3 trades from the USA to Canada. In each case the customs form (Number) has been used for tracking purposes and showed the package through all stages of delivery right to the door of the person in Canada. No additional cost or anything. I just logged into the Canadian Postal site and entered the US Customs form number.
Assuming you have the Customs form this can probably be used, unless something has changed in the last few months since I last sent to Canada.
I assume a similar service exists the other way but have no confirmation of this.

This still works. If we send Express to the US it includes tracking, I haven't tried it with a customs form.frosty995 wrote:Just thought I'd add one comment here.

I'm in Canada, and of the 25+ trades/sales I've done here (and more than that through other sites), none have taken more than 10-14 days for shipping to or from me, and most from me have taken 3-5 days. I think these 3 weeks+ shipping times are highly situational, and irregular.
Re: Incomplete Trade: oyowzas
That would help me out, if he decided to share the information with me, which he has not. I will still give him the monday night deadline and then I give negative and take it into my own hands.
I actually got the idea of mail frauding the postal service from a mail service help line. It says that they are responsible for the product since they are the ones moving it around and such, and that it wouldn't be something to take to court, it justs brings the issue to their attention.

Re: Incomplete Trade: oyowzas
I would like to echo this. I ship from Japan and I use EMS exclusively for all my shipments. It's trackable via the Japanese postal system AND the postal system of the country where it is sent. (So far I know this works in the US, Canada, Australia, France and the UK.) It's got a 13 digit number on the slip. It starts with two letters then 9 numbers and then a final two letters which denote the country of origin. (i.e. US for the States or JP for Japan.) I think most customs forms have that same bit of info on them. I can track most pacakges when they arrive in Japan just by that number.frosty995 wrote:Just thought I'd add one comment here.

I've used this system to ship out over 100 pacakges between family, friends, BTown and eBay and they've all been trackable. Like I said, EMS is more expensive so it's faster, but I'm pretty sure the numbers for tracking purposes are the same whether EMS or just the custom's number.

Maybe add this to your sig file Eric.
I'm in a similar boat with a Canadian at the moment who has resorted to screaming, cussing and claiming I am a racist just to stall shipping packages he says he sent at least twice already.
Good luck with resolving this. I hate to see a new guy who appears to be trying to do the right thing AFTER violating Federal law to do it right with B-Town...

Re: Incomplete Trade: oyowzas
Okay, Lictor... a couple things.
First: Let's not fan any fires. Unless it's a new trade or the issue's come up again, I know the trade you're talking about. I seem to recall that the "racist" thing was a misunderstanding based on the similarity between common U.S. phraseology vs. a (local?) Canadian slang term (which I'd never heard of previously). I thought that part had been settled.
If he reads your comments he will take offense to you bringing that back up.
Second; I can't add that to my sig line. It's too long. I'd have to delete one of my other quotes and... Well, I just love my babies too much to part with any of them right now.
H-Zero:
EMS? Express Mail Service?
In the US there's one (Express, I think) that has some sort of a tracking # with it but I've never looked into it. I seem to recall that it is quite cost prohibitive for trading. The idea of BTown is to save money. LOL I don't want to pay more for shipping than I would have if I bought the stuff new.
Frosty995:
A quick post in the "Misc Messages" would be wonderful.
Seriously.
Do a quick 'walk-through" on how to track them. The clerks at USPS have told me numerous times that the only way to track any foreign package is through... (I think it was) Express Mail, which is an amazingly expensive option.
If there's a way to track packages going outside the US, even if only to Canada, I'd love to know what the steps are. It could make Canada/US trades far easier.
Thanks.
Eric

Re: Incomplete Trade: oyowzas
I would like to echo what Eric said about tracking the package through the Custom's number.
How do you do that?
I have gone to several of my local P.O.'s and they have always said that there is NO way to track an international package UNLESS you go with the express (which is about impossible to afford).
A "how to" would be much appreciated.
Karl

Re: Incomplete Trade: oyowzas
I've had people send me stuff via international priority, not just express, and it's been trackable. It's all about the 13 digit number on the customs form. Like I said, it always looks like the following:MagickalMemories wrote: H-Zero:

EI123456789US
That's just an example. It starts with two letters, then a string of 9 numbers and then ends with two letters which are an abbreviation for the country the package originated in. So in my above example that package would have originated in the States as "US" is the USA abbreviation. Any package I've ever received with a string of letters and numbers like the above has been trackable. I don't know why, but I always hear postal officials telling people these packages aren't trackable unless you buy Global Express Priority even though if you look on their OWN website it directly contradicts them:
http://www.usps.com/international/prior ... tional.htm
That's the official US Postal service website's description of International priority mail. Notice that it says right there that you can track it via your computer? Yet like 90% of the people I've talked to tell me the counter staff at the USPS will always tell them this is impossible. The only thing I can think of is that some countries maybe don't track them once they enter the foreign customs system. Like I've heard Italy is notorious for shipping difficulties. But I know for a fact that I can track the stuff inside Japan and everything I send can be tracked in the States. (I wouldn't bother doing international trading and selling otherwise.)
...which, even though this was at a mod's request, I feel I'm straying off topic a bit so I'll call it a day now.

Good info, guys.
Thanks for sharing.
I'm NOT a Mod, but you have the right idea, in that it was at my request, so NO NEGATIVITY MEANT WITH THE NEXT SENTENCE;
Now that we have a topic for it, let's be certain to put any further discussion of it there, so we can keep this on track.
H-Zero, I would REALLY REALLY appreciate it if you'd copy & paste the text above into the thread Frosty started.
Thanks, guys!

Re: Incomplete Trade: oyowzas
Personally assaulting me in a thread is no way to resolve this in any way. Now this is partially my bad, and this being my first international trade, all of my continental trades have gone good. I sent what i sent i said but the receipt fromt the post offivce was stuffed into my jean pockets and i haven't seen it since so its awefully hard to find the customs number at this point. Now i'm hoping that its just stuck in customs and will be sent through to sarnas with haste, but i marked it as best i could and this was only my first international trade. This Once you have 30 good ratings you shouldn't be able to be a douche bag and hten just say "I can't possibly be bad! Look at my good ratings!"
However i refuse to take the fall for this, as we in the original messages never once said anything about insurance or delivery confirmation(which apparently you can't get to canada?) so i did what i said i would. There are traders on here that would hopefully vouch for me not being a total douche bag hopefully? Im trying to find the right form to fill out to get this resolved but by sarnas just messaging me and simply saying times up, i regret to see how this helps the situation in any way? I would understand if he was being helpful by trying to help me find the right form or doing anything? But just posting about how horrible i am and calling me malicious things in a thread which i had no knowledge of, well that just seems juvenile at best.
Oh and dont all just take his word and take his side he actually sent me 100 gaunts, 6 gaunts, and a carnifex in a ziplock baggy, now is that really well packaged? What i'd like to know is how to I avoid just taking a hit and taking the negative reference is there anyway or do i just have to take it?
Thaks all.
My army changes more than my tv.
Re: Incomplete Trade: oyowzas
I think the key is finding the missing receipt. That customs numbers is what you need and should be on the customs sheet. I know my local PO staples the receipt to the form though. Unfortunately that receipt is, at least in my understanding, the ONLY way to prove you shipped. Maybe someone else knows of another way to get that info after the fact. I wouldn't think certain POs do a lot of International shipments, so if it gets logged by the PO, maybe they can look it up based on when your ship date was. Just some thoughts there.
As for packaging issues, That is neither here nor there. Unless that is negotiated as part of the trade you never know what you are going to get. I know I pack my models very secure, but I have received multiple shipments of models that have been literal pieces when they arrived. That isn't excusing it, but if it isn't agreed to have everything packed well in protective wrap or foam, then no one should be surprised when it isn't that way when it arrives.

Re: Incomplete Trade: oyowzas
The packaging of the items has no bearing on THIS situation. If there was breakage, you'd have all the reason to complain to the other trader. If they refused to replace the broken parts, THAT would be an issue to be taken up here. From the information you gave us, the items you received were packaged to a substandard level, but arrived in the condition agreed upon, therefore, good enough. It's on you to provide proof of shipping.

It seems like grasping at straws....
It took you awhile even to respond to this thread. Now you wanna complain he didnt pack well. You lost your receipt. It looks like you are going to have to take the negative, unless you can work a deal with him & resend or repay.

Okay.
First off, let me say that I HATE that the new phpbb's don't automatically post your post, but they show you that new stuff has been posted and they give you a chance to change your posting. That's what the fricking EDIT button is for (in most forums).
I can't stay on the site. I tab back & forth. I post between job processing. Sometimes, it looks like my message was posted... until I come back & see that it didn't go through...
MAN, I BLEEPing hate that!!!!!
[/rant]
My first post was far more eloquent and gently said.
I don't have the patience to go through all that crap again.
I'm going to be direct and blunt. Please, understand I'm not being rude. I'm just not flowering up my words again. LOL
You're right about calling you a d.b. It has already been addressed. It was out of line.
Oyo... It's your responsibility to be certain that everything arrives or make good on it if it doesn't. That's just the way it is.
It doesn't matter if he didn't ASK for insurance/tracking. You didn't offer.
If you offered & he declined --- his fault.
If he told you not to bother BEFORE you had a chance to offer it -- his fault.
otherwise, though it might not be your FAULT, it is your RESPONSIBILITY.
Your claims of poor packing mean nothing now. If it mattered, you should have brought them up when the stuff arrived. If you did, then show proof. If not... then it LOOKS like you're just trying to deflect a little attntion away from yourself (note, i didn't say you ARE, just that it LOOKS that way.
JLONG, I'm going to have to disagree with your opinion on packaging, my friend.
It's my responsibility to ensure that you get what you are told to expect. If you're expecting assembled, unbroken models, it's my responsibility to pack them so that they can be reasonable expected to arrive in that condition. Responsible behaviors aren't something that should have to be negotiated.
If I pack them right and the postal monkeys destroy them, that's one thing. If I drop them all in a plastic bag & shove that in a box for them to roll around in... that's different.
Eric
