Reference system

Post by Shirokuma »

I know I can write down names of trades. I know I should practice patience...

But when, OH WHEN?!?, will Post a Reference - the heart and soul of Bartertown's virtual credentiality* - be operational again????

*Credentiality - an off-the-cuff, blanket-colloquialism for "good trader, bad trader, meh trader".

Still working it, I hope this week. I'm 99% there.

Unfortunately, I was only able to port the ugly from the last version, I really could not add to it.

If that's what you want it to say, then sure. That's what it says.

Any new updates on this Adam? I know you've got other priorities, but it's been down for a month now, and the feedback system is a pretty integral part of the Bartertown community.......

You said you were 99% done nearly 2 weeks ago. That last 1% must be a tough cookie! :-D

Is there anything that maybe some of the more computer saavy members here can do to lend a hand? That would NOT be me by the way......I'd just delay things even further.

Jumping on the bandwagon here, Adam... Could you give us an update on the status of the feedback system? I've got five trades backed up that I would like to post good references for. It's integral to the trust system here - especially for the two new traders I dealt with who were really good eggs - I would like their feedback to reflect that...

Thanks for all you do. You are the MAN for keeping this site running through the years. 8)

Yeah, I am up to 14 and I have 4 more in the works.
I am NOT complaining.
I just hope that I can remember all of the details when the time comes.
I LIKE to give more details then "he's a great trader" when I leave references just to help his next trading partner to make a more informed decision.

I know that the real heavy hitters are probably WAY up there in references that need to be done.

THIS is why I have to be careful.

I have ONE ref to leave... or maybe two... I can't remember.
I'll have to check my notes.

No.

No. Wait... it's two. That's right. Two. I remember now. Ironhide and... some other guy... a new guy... I have his info in my PM box.

How the *F* would I remember 18? Geez! LOL

It's pretty easy for those of us who let our computers do the remembering for us. ;)

If you have the practice of creating an off-line file with all of the messages for each trade, then you can have separate folders for active trades and completed trades. If the file doesn't move to "completed" until references are left, then it's easy to see which ones still need references.

Whether it's 1 or 18 can be determined at a glance, along with who the trader is.

I would say freak also, but aren't we all?

John, that might be a little excessive. :-?
I was kidding to a certain extent. I keep all my PM's and emails.
I don't make any special files (those are reserved for photos of dubious content). ;)

Name
E-mail
Mailing Address
Summary of my side of the trade
Summary of their side of the trade
The date the agreement was reached
Whether they referred me
Whether I referred them
And the value of the trade
I do the exact same thing. I use excel and have it in a format where I can print it out if need be. I've done it since I got here and it's worked out great. Especially when I need to remind people who haven't posted refs from Feburary. I've personally got about 9-10 on my plate. Sigh, hope there's a light at the end of the tunnel somewhere... :-P
