Hate to burn a guy, but... Groo The Wanderer

These BTR's have been resolved. The accused may or may not have been involved in the resolution. Familiarize yourself with this section as a preventative measure.

Though i've never had direct trades with Groo, I've had "dealings" of a sort with him on occasion, and I would have found myself surprised had this turned out to ACTUALLY be a scam.

That being said, Groo, if you want your address information removed from the thread, you need to PM Linrandir and ask him for permission. Once things are posted here, they're -generally- here to stay. Exceptions can be made... but he's the man to make 'em. An admin will have to be the one to remove it.

And so it begins....

It did not take nearly as long as even I thought it would for people to start mis-using the deadbeat thread and throwing it up as indisputable proof of wrongdoing, when nothing of the sort has happened.

Why should he address it? What If he had a "bad feeling" and backed out, what does that have to do with this present issue? Did he scam someone? was it a bad trade? no. Then why even mention it?

And people wanted to open ANOTHER iffy thread about leaving names of people who do not leave feedback... Yeah, THAT was a good idea...

Anglacon- Letting him know there is a thread about him is hardly "mis-use". He might not have been aware it even existed. With the work being done on the board, there are still problems. He came forward & spoke up on this issue, I thought he might want to do the same on the other thread. You are the one jumping to alot of conclusions. So far there have been no negatives (-10) to Groo, if this is a misunderstanding or lack of communication, perhaps it can be cleared up & stay that way.

Did you happen to read my post in D&BO?

I assume you did not and are only using it as a crutch to support your dislike of the D&BO forum. If you'd have read it, you'd have seen that nothing of the above occurred. We agreed to trade, on two separate dates he says he sent his half, I ask for proof after 6 WEEKS of waiting (or at least an honest "Hey, I couldn't ship it", he then makes it a "gift", and then supposedly I'm the a*****e for posting a D&BO thread (even though it's been 2 months and I still have not rec'd my "gift").

Anyway....
Groo The Wanderer wrote:As I have told Robert Graham, once we decieded to do the trade I would find out the cost of postage (I even remarked that it would most likely be high) and would let him know. When I did finally get the cost it was going to cost £72 for airmail and £55 surface. I told him that those amounts where way to high for me at the moment and I would do what I could to get the costs down (I have saved all PM's to and from Mr Graham and they are available on request, I wouldn't want to breech his privacy) He then told me that he was in the process of moving house and traveling and would be away for a period of time so there was no rush. This was great as nearly $150 for posting the army and bits (the army came up to actually 4500, not to mention loads of bits) would make a deal of this nature normally out of the question.
Wait, so you agree to a trade and then calculate shipping and drag your heels because it's too expensive??? That's extremely unfair to the other trader and I hope in the future, you do what every other good trader here does - calculate shipping costs BEFORE agreeing or suck it up and eat the difference.
Trading Guidelines:
1. Lower rating ships first - even if I am purchasing.
2. If you agree to buy something, you have 72hrs. in which to pay. If payment is not received in 72hrs., I will automatically post a Non-Payment/Backout thread.
3. Refs are left upon positive receipt of goods, NEVER beforehand!
4. I accept Paypal & USPS money orders and charge for shipping AT COST. I make no profit from it.
5. I trade NIB/new models at retail.

I did read it actually. I think you have enough for a Bad trader report, but instead, you went the "backout" option, which is not as severe.
Fine and dandy. i have NOTHING to say against it, or feel it was wrong in any way.

i do not like when, in an OFFICIAL BTR, the backout thread is posted as a negative influence against the guy from someone who had nothing to do with the trade... it was more of a "lookee here, he did this wrong too!", which, if was done in any other way he would have been warned not to do that. (E.g.- "he ripped me off too!"- the person would be told to make his OWN btr report.)

Believe it or not, I am not against the deadbeat forum. Just the misuse of it. But hey, I can understand the reason it was done, to disprove a "oops, never happened to me before" image, but I still feel it was not proper.

hey- what do you know... I think this is the first time I ever disagreed with starslayer...
Now if MM wrote it... :)

Excuse me?
No flame baiting the post whore!

I don't have an opinion on it, either way.
I understand why the OP posted this, though I wouldn't have, at this point.
I see what Starslayer's doing, though I wouldn't have.
I understand your disagreement with it, though I don't have an opinion on it.

So, you just leave me out of it, pal. :)

I would like to point out that, though this thread has not quite gotten off topic, it's come close a couple times.
Please, when posting in the BTR forum, make certain your posts are all on topic (all have been, thus far) and try to keep emotion (anger, annoyance, etc) out of the "tone" of your posts as much as you can when disagreeing.

Oh... and don't flame-bait the post whore. LOL

Thanks.

edited out names and addresses.

You can PM the mod staff about that sort of thing, doesn't have to just be Linrandir.

Matter of fact, don't PM him about it. PM mod staff with a link.

...and, unfortunately, you'll never get any. I asked and asked for proof from him as well and he always dodged the question.

And, it's not as if he hasn't logged in recently. Last login shows as today, 8/1 @ 4:53am....

Well, for what's it's worth, I apologize you got burned, igenstilch. On behalf of the good traders and BT veterans here, I hope this doesn't negatively affect your opinion of BT. It's a great site with a good community, just sometimes that 1% of bad traders that really messes everything up.

I've done trades online since 1998, this is the first time something like this has happened to me, so I count myself lucky. Thought I'm out $700 worth of tau. Theres not much I can do. I have no negative feelings towards barter town, and will continue to buy, sell and trade here. I just hope my future deals here go smoother. :-?
