Previously, I tried deleting my cache to see if that would keep me logged in. this time I went ahead and :;shudder:: deleted my cookies before logging back in.
I hope that works.

It didn't make a difference.
I noticed something, though... I like to use the BACK button to navigate backwards when I'm done in a thread/topic.
that was when I had the problem with beig logged out... After a couple uses of the "back" button, I came back but was logged out.
I've been navigating by using the bar at the top of the forum, and haven't had any problems (yet) since.

Oh... And what happed to the "Discussion" side? Is it gone for good? Temporarily? Other?

Any chance we could get an option near the threads Subject/Title line for "Most recent post" so that, instead of automatically going to the first page (or first post in a page if you use the PAGE link), we go to the most recent post that we have not yet read? Something like what DakkaDAkka uses.
Yes. I know this isn't Dakka, but it is a VERY user-friendly function.

What's this about red and blue?
I don't see anything like that.
Although, I have had the sinking sensation that when I search threads here I don't do it the way everybody else does it.
I get on Bartertown and hit the "view new posts" button and then I trawl through EVERYTHING (well maybe not the cards or auction threads) that has come up since my last visit.

I think the hardest thing to get used to is the information on the right. I tried to search every option to change it back to the left, but I couldn't find it.

Another problem.
I left BTOWN fora bit, got an email notification that there was a new post in this thread, and tried to come back.

When I got to the site, it all looked like THIS:



All the way through page ONE of this thread it looked like that.
When I went back to page 2, it came back to the new appearance.
I'm going to close BTOWN and come back to see if it's fixed on the rest of the site. I will update this post with info.

Oh, I see. The circles are red if they have a new post. Hmm. I might have to change the way I search here.

I am sure there are going to be teething pains until Adam gets everything settled.

I tried to add some friends. I'm having issues.

I clicked on their user name.
When their profile came up, I clicked on "add friend."
So far, though I've tried about a half dozen (including yourself, Adam), Only one (Vesrian) actually worked.
One whom I added has put me on his friends list, so I know it's not because they've (all) added me as a "foe."

TOO WEIRD for me too, but the user icons on the right doesn't bother me as my Myspace page has my pic on the right also.

But for Eric's Teeny-Bopper comment I AGREE. This isn't happy bouncy pretty stylish-ish Britney 40k...

It'll take getting use to though. It always does. It's an experiment I'm sure. Not the 'Take a deep breath and relax kind of thing experiment', but maybe someone up there might know what they are doing.

That's 'cause i'm such a friendly guy - never got a bad thing to say about anyone. Now that Adam dude, on the other hand, he's always calling himself the "trademaster" and stopping around here like he owns the place. Are you sure you want someone like that as your friend?


About the new look. I think the software supports different styles. I'm not sure how hard they are to install, but maybe there's one that looks like the old board.

I cant find ratings on PMs so if someone PMs you how do you find their rating unless you find a post by them somewhere.Its not on profiles either so that didnt help.Only reason Im asking I pmed 2 people this morning and realized they have no idea what my rating is.

I also agree with MM and peacemystic.. .. the natural tendency is to read from left to right, and see WHOSE post I am reading right now.. not the "hmmm.. who said that???" then check.

I cannot tell the difference between new and old posts either.. the red (which I can tell if I concentrate) looks more like a washed out pink to me.. some level of deeper color is needed.

However, I can see peoples rating just fine.. above the avatar..

Yup.
Ratings are showing up just fine now.
As of last night, though, they were non-existent.

So, here's a quirk I found last night with adding Friends.

If you're in the forums and you click on their avatar OR username, it takes you to their profile.
From there, if you click to "Add Friend," it doesn't work (for me, anyway). It goes through all the motions but, in the end, it doesn't add them.
Now, if you go into your PM box and open a PM you got from that person, then click on their Avatar or username, and go through the motions, it will add them properly.

I've tried 4 different ways to add people (clicking avatar in both, the forum and the PM and Clicking Username in the forum and PM) using the same exact users for each test. ONLY the PM adding has worked for me. I have tried each way twice, to reduce the likelihood of "coincidence."

That is pretty cool. You can click on your foes posts if you really want to see it. Otherwise, it is nonexistent.

I had a little trouble seeing the red circles also (getting older), but now that I know what to look for I will just have to change my search habits.

No biggie, change is good.

I AM glad to see the refs back up, and the chatroom seems cooler than it used to be. Although, I didn't use it much in the first incarnation.

The ITL looks the same, but I will wait and see if Adam does something with it. I did like some of the color coded ideas that were thrown around a while back.

I have had NO problems adding friends and foes. I do like the handy ADD button for PMing a friend.

It isn't TOO different, but I have to say that the information on the right side is still odd to me.

OK, overall it looks pretty good. There are things to get used to (as there have been the last 3 or so times we've updated) but I think the upgrades will make it worth the effort. I haven't had much chance to play around here yet but I notice 2 things:
1 (and I knew this was coming) is that I can't post using my normal browser. It's my fault as I use an older version of Netscape and when another site I go to recently updated the same thing happened. I can see everything but when I go to reply there is literally no "post" button on the reply page. No biggie as I have IE on my system, just throwing it out there.
2 The old sites have always automatically marked the topics as read if you visited a forum, even if you didn't specifically read that thread. Now it doesn't do that. I see that there is a button to do it manually though (again not a big deal just pointing it out).

Overall it appears to have some cool features so I'm excited to see what people find over the next few days. Thanks Adam!!

my network was down, thanks to windows security update, and couldn't check here the past couple days.
