Looking for information about Painter 6479

Post by thx10050 »

(I figured this would be the most appropriate forum for this thread. Please let me know if it's not.)

First of all, this isn't a bad trader report or anything of the kind. I'm looking for information from people who've done business with 6479 before. As for myself, I recently (within the past couple of weeks) commissioned 6479 to paint a 40K army for me and sent models of my own to be assembled and painted, as well as paid through Paypal enough to get the project started and order some additional models to continue the project till the next payment phase.

However, it's been over a week now and I haven't heard anything from 6479 since he/they received my models and Paypal payments. Communication was excellent leading up to me sending my models and money, and now has abruptly ceased for unknown reasons. I'm debating sending a 'warning' e-mail and I certainly will not wait long enough for any assistance from Paypal to be nullified through time.

If anyone is doing, or has done, business with 6479 before, please PM me any information you might have on the organization, good or bad. I'd especially like to hear from people who are currently conducting business and see if their communication has ceased. Also, if you sent models, please let me know the address you were told to send the models to, so I can compare it to the one in my e-mails.

Thank you.

Edit: I should add the reason I'm asking and posting here is that I found 6479 through Bartertown. I really wouldn't have known about them otherwise.

well, the guy(s) there seem to do a good job and offer a good deal. but yeah, we have emailed them about 5 times, never got a reply, and i myslef somehow got there supposed phone number and called (it was right number according to voicemail) and i was never called back.

we thus far have not had any bad experience with them, and i myself wont drop the names of people i strongly recomend staying away from, however i can say this. The websites do not do justice to the nature of the people that actually do the work for the "you would most likly want to get your stuff painted by me!" claims

GTGU strongly recomends

dirty water painting - that guy is solid, and can knock out stuff at above average quality. has a great "business sense" and it is his full time job.

middle pillar - (mmp or whatever there called) - those two can do some quick "like in the book paint jobs" and they are very well experienced in things outside of 40k

minisrealm.com - im not sure if they have there pro-paint services transfered to the site yet, but from the guys i know there, everybody on staff is AT LEAST! a golden deamon honerable mention winner, and they are seriously the coolest bunch to work with - highly dedicated.

but yeah - painter 6479 was basically a waste of our time and phone minutes on my cell phone. all i wanted was some orks painted!

I wish you the best of luck, and please do paste onto this thread if they did come through and if it was just something like "too busy or sick to call you for a couple days"

(oh yeah! Then there is us - but were only working on orders of ultra-premium work on single models or command squad types right now, typically $75 minimum)

Great quality. Great prices. Great guy.
Poor communication. Slow turn-around.

You will get your army back from him, painted well.

Eventually.

Check the Bad Trader section. for more info.

Jeramakus: Joe! :)

I was talking with Middle Pillar services and Blue Table as well, but last I heard from Middle was an e-mail about checking for bitz and then nothing else. Don't know if e-mail somehow got screwed up, but I decided to go with 6479 after a few days of waiting. I did e-mail Dirty Water, but never received a reply back.

Okay, that mailing address matches the one I was given to ship models to and if you called them and got a voice mail, then it was probably the same phone number too, as I left a message there. Plus their Paypal e-mail seemed very much legit, definitely something people have sent money to before.

I just don't understand how communication can be so good and regular, then suddenly cease as soon as a project is 'started.'

Update: Just received an e-mail back saying he'd had some wrist surgery and that pictures should be arriving soon of work done so far. Seems like the project is still on track.

It's unfortunate when communication breaks down. The worst deals can go so much better if a person just gives solid, honest communication.

Glad to hear that things are looking up for you.

Thanks. :)

Don't get me wrong, whoever might be reading this and judging 6479 for themselves. The only reasons I chose 6479 for business was that 1) I haven't painted in forever: I figured a good solid paint job, one that doesn't break the wallet and something I can try and somewhat duplicate, would be best to getting back into painting and 2) Positive-rated traders with a decent number of trades on this website have done *successful* business with him before, despite communication issues in the past.

I'll keep this thread updated on the project, if the admin(s) and mods don't mind. This isn't meant to be a thread to promote slander of a business.

No problem as far as I can tell (ie. mod approval). Though if it does just turn into something unpleasant I will lock and/or remove it. Thus far its doign alright. I'm glad he got back to you.

To be honest this was nearly the same reason why I chose them. Though given the turn-a-round problem I really doubt I'll be doing more business with him. My main reason was I didn't have time to paint.. well since I've commissioned him I've done slightly more painting than I've sent him, maybee not his quality, but I'd have them on the field by now.

Well well well...
I'm now waiting for about 4 weeks for a reply from him and haven't heard anything by now.
He has a huge amount of models from me and also an upfront-payment in the high regions so I consider filing a bad trader report here and hand my issue over to the officials... :(

I can understand that I have sent a huge amount of miniatures but if he can't keep up with the work or can't hold his deadlines, a simple email would help. I'm not the kind of guy who is a bitch on such issues and to this day I've always found a solution for any kind of problems, but this just pisses me off now... :(

Do NOT post a BTR on him without getting permission from Linrandir first.

As of right now, advertisers can't, typically, get BTR's. BTR's are for trades begun on this site.
Now, it WILL qualify, I think, if you Pmed him about a trade and he responded to that. Check for clarity, though.

If you emailed him or contacted him via his website, be warned. Until new guidelines are in place (rumored to be forthcoming), he doesn't qualify for a BTR.

Still, however, considering the circumstances, I think there's a possibility that Lin MIGHT let you.

There's an old saying that it's easier to ask forgiveness than to ask for permission... That isn't always the case around here.

I am, unfortunately, now in the same position as Magier. It has been 2 weeks, if not more, since his promised updates and I've heard nothing since then. I too am on the verge of washing my hands of this and am considering filing mail fraud and opening a dispute with Paypal before my 45 days have expired.
