"I just don't WANT to believe that about someone who has a 32 rating, but I admit it really is looking bad for him. "

There are ways to increase your rating EASILY. I am new to Barter but I am not stupid, anyone with any type of common sence can scam other people. Granted it would take a little time. I won't explain what to do cause I think that is kinda stupid for me to tell someone how to cheat. But it is easy. That 32 rating I am sure was made up, MOST of it.

I'm pretty sure MM knows there are ways to increase your feedback rating,we run across such people every so often,usually there pretty easy to pick most of the time.

Thanks for the backup, PM... but there are no problems on my end. The man is justifiably upset.

He's frustrated over the issue.

Headhunter, like PM said, I'm aware of the ways you can scam your ref's up.
Also, keep in mind I said I didn't WANT to believe it... It doesn't mean I refuse to.

I used the name you sent to to look up references on "Russell Moses."

I believe these are his complete ref's here:

I doubt those ref's are faked, as almost all of the ones in that link are from well established traders...
Note that, above, there are TWO negative ref's.

Again, due to the nature of the ref's (mostly established traders), I don't think he scammed his Trader52 ref's up, either.

Looks as if Mr. Moses has been using multiple screen names.
I'm not saying it outright... but Russell Moses in Ontario, CA has references under 3 different email addresses going back to 01/31/2004 and negative ref's dating to 05/2004.
It is quite possible that he's done this before... Started a name, got some ref's, scammed someone... Started a NEW screen name, got some ref's... etc.
Again, that is STRICTLY hypothesis. It is NOT an accusation.

I'm going to suggest that you PM Linrandir, Morlock and Insidius with a link to this thread. Advise them that some new information has come up and ask them to investigate. Also, in the PM, let each know that you're PMing all 3 of them so they can coordinate their efforts and don't duplicate things unnecessarily.

IF you're being scammed, I doubt that this will help you get your stuff, but I hope what I've posted here helps you in some way.

Most people don't think to do that because they haven't had it happen to them or haven't SEEN it happen.

So what do I do, after I agreed to a trade and get thier name check the reference table... but like this guy Trader52 he had 3 different email accounts. So I need to get someones name first before agreeing to a trade huh?

Not necessarily.

Just wait until you have the shipping name & address, then search by name.
If something weird comes up, address it with the trader & make an informed decision from there.

Had you done that here, and backed out of the trade, I believe the Admin would NOT have supported him leaving you a Neg Ref for backing out.

Of course a Mod or Admin can speak on their opinions better than I can.

Just keep trading. One of the benefits of having a high rating is that you can often expect those with lower ref's to ship first, thus eliminating the need for you to be extra diligent like this.
