Makhnov - Bad Trader!

Post by eman1_2 »

Bad Trader reference.

United States Post Office Tracking number (International shipping and insurance): CP808334240US

The deal was for the Legion of Everblight, in trade for $10 and the Therians from the AT-43 starter set. I sent the Legion out, and the tracking number confirms delivery. I never recieved confirmation from him, or the Therains or the $10. Any help from the Admins (or anyone for that matter) would be super. Not sure what to do next.

Hey there. Would you consider trading the Legion for the Therian stuff in the starter set + some cash? That's 8 Storm Golems and a Wraith.

Sounds fair to me. I am looking for another starter set worth of stuff still. Fill out 2 units of Storm golems that way, and move into my second Cypher banner.

$10? Covers my shipping and and seems to even it out ($50 Legion, $40 for 1/2 the Damocles set)

Well, it's still not a bad deal, whatsoever. How about just the starter box, then, for the Therians and $10? Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier, things have been busy.

Sounds good - Starter for $10 and Therians.

Since we both have low ratings, we should do a simultaneous shipping. I will ship mine with some sort of delivery confirmation / tracking.

If you want to paypal the cash, my paypal ID is eman1_2@yahoo.com (also my email....)

As soon as I get an address I can get this out. I'll pack it up tonight.

Just curious if we are still doing the trade? Haven't heard from you in a few days, and I want to send this out. Can I get your address to ship the Legion to?

Hey there. Sorry about that, things have been busy. I'm actually not going to be able to get my Therians until this weekend, but I'm still definitely interested in the trade. If you'd wait till Monday, we can send them off then?

Hey there. I did, and I'll be sending the Therians and the $10 (money order in $US is okay, right?) off in a couple of hours.

My own address is:

These will go in the mail tomorrow (today is a federal holiday - Veteran's Day).

USD is fine. Canadian would give me an extra $0.40.

Who would have thought that the Canadian dollar would be more than the US Doller....

I'll give you the tracking info today as well. Thanks for the deal!

At this point, he stopped responing to me. All the rest of these are still sitting in my Outbox, which means he has not read them yet, correct? I also never recieved any tracking info.

This went into the mail today - International Priority w/ insurance (the only way to get any sort of tracking witht he USPS internationally).

Said it should take about a week to get to you. Expensive - it was over $18 to get it there. Hope postage back this way is cheaper. I should have looked at Fed Ex or something.

The Legion should be getting there any day now. Did they give you a timeframe on the shipping of the Therians?

Your package was delivered according to the USPS tracking.

I really need to hear back from you - it has been almost 2 weeks since I have heard anything, and right now I am out $50 in Legion + $18 to ship.

If you are honestly busy, and the Therians are on their way, great. But the silence is making me nervous. Let me know one way or the other.

Been 2 weeks, and I haven't heard from you or recieved a package. Did you get the Legion? And do you have a tracking number of any sort we can look up?

Don't know if you are reading these or not (most of them are still sitting in my outbox, indicating no).

It will have been 3 weeks on Tuesday - if I don't hear anything from you, I will have to post in the bad traders forum. I would obviously rather have the Therians. I am out $70 right now (starter + shipping), and starting to get real nervous that the Therians are not going to show up.

If you still intend on sending them, let me know. But I believe I have been pretty patient until now, but it has been a long time since I have heard from you.

Yeah, well... I can't really find any fault at how you've handled it.

I'd suggest limiting your trades to people with 30+ until you're at that level yourself, then you can reasonably expect lower ref's to send first.

Umm... Let's see...

Allegedly, he sent on November 12. That's just under a month.
Well, the good news is that it's absolutely NOT uncommon for a package from Canada to the US to take a month or more. Even up to 2 months, while frustrating as HECK, is not completely unheard of.

Gotta love international shipping and customs.

:sigh:

That's why I'm limiting almost all of my trades to US only. I love our international members here and all... it's just SO hard, thanks to the postal services involved.

Keep PMing him, once a day. Try to stay calm and non-accusatory. The last thing you want to do is start cussing him out, only to get an apologetic PM from him in a couple weeks stating that he was in a car accident on the way to ship your package and has been in the hospital the whole time (and has verifiable proof). You'd feel like an a55, then. LOL

Good job on the BTR post. Concise and clean.
Good job on posting his address. It's a VERY good idea. It helps stop serial scammers.

Lower rating? You ship first.

PMs in your outbox means he hasn't logged in/visited the site.

It has nothing to do with if he's read them or not. Hope this helps.

Money is a good like everything else; if your rating is lower, you ship first whether money is involved or not.

If it helps any, I have had some correspondence with Makhnov. He did not check his PMs for a week or two, so he may just be someone who doesn't visit that often.

I don't know anything else about him, though.

If I recall the test I ran a few weeks ago, you have to read the message before it'll leave the outbox of the sender.

AFAIK you have to click on the PM's link at the top to get your PM's after that they leave the outbox and go to sentbox.

Reading them is something else.

Ran the test again, and added another level to it. This time two messages were sent, and only the second one was read.

You have to read a PM before it'll leave the sender's outbox.

If you'd like to conduct your own experiment, send two PM's to the same person, make sure they understand only to read the second one. After they've done their part, check your outbox. Unless the other party has failed to follow directions, you will have the first message in your outbox, and the second message in your sent box.

Any updates on this trade?
Has said trader contacted you or are your messages still waiting to be read?
Have you had any luck contacting the fuzz?

Have you left a negative feedback? This is definitely something to take care of. MAny times, people make a BTR but dont follow through on the neg. That sets up someone else to get jammed up. Do the community a favor and leave appropriate feedback for this person listing the difficulties you had with this trade. A BTR is not enough to keep the community safe.

Very good info on the sent/out box guys, but wouldn't it be better as a topic all on it's own with a confirmation result posted here to tie up loose ends?

I'm not a mod and am not trying to break balls so please don't anyone have a hissy. The sent/out box thing is a good discussion... I'm just wondering out loud if it should be someplace else.

All my messages to him are still in the outbox, and I have heard nothing. I was going to wait until Thursday to negative him - that will be one month after I sent the stuff out.

As far as contacting the authorities, what should I say / do? Don't have much spare time to deal with something like that. I'd just be happy if no one else traded with the guy.

Any accusations of bad trading need their own thread. I'd suggest you post your own w/ all relevant info.
Trading Guidelines:
1. Lower rating ships first - even if I am purchasing.
2. If you agree to buy something, you have 72hrs. in which to pay. If payment is not received in 72hrs., I will automatically post a Non-Payment/Backout thread.
3. Refs are left upon positive receipt of goods, NEVER beforehand!
4. I accept Paypal & USPS money orders and charge for shipping AT COST. I make no profit from it.
5. I trade NIB/new models at retail.
