Bartertown Discord Overview — Read Before Joining
Bartertown now has an official Discord server to support real-time trade discussions and community interaction. Please read the following carefully before joining or participating.
Access & Approval Process
Anyone may join the Discord server, but only approved members can post trade ads.
After joining, you must:
- Change your Discord nickname to match your Bartertown.com username.
- Link your Bartertown profile in the designated channel.
- Wait for staff approval (Admin or Moderator)
Only after approval will you receive permission to post in the trading forums.
Trade Posting Rules
If you have an active Bartertown post, we recommend linking it at the top of your Discord post.
All trade ads must be posted in the appropriate Discord forum.
You are expected to follow both:
- The full Bartertown.com Trading Rules viewtopic.php?f=44&t=45470
- The Discord Server Rules
- No auction links (unless in the Auctions section)
- No thread hijacking
- You must have physical possession of the items offered
- One post per 6 hours (bumping allowed, within reason) - if your post already exists, don't post it twice!
- Use proper tags and descriptive titles
- Update your post once the item is sold or acquired
Trade Safety Notice
Bartertown recommends all trades be concluded on the Bartertown.com site.
While trade discussions may begin on Discord, final agreements and references should be completed through Bartertown to be eligible for BTRs (Bad Trade Reports) or Back-Out reports.
Staff will not monitor or moderate trade discussions on Discord beyond basic moderation (e.g., spam, language, etc.).
Important:
If you trade with a Discord user who is not an approved Bartertown member or Advertiser, you do so at your own risk. Bartertown does not guarantee the safety or enforceability of such trades.
Advertiser Policy
Verified Bartertown Advertisers receive access to a public Advertiser Corner to promote products or services.
Only verified Advertisers may advertise any business, product, or service.
Non-advertisers caught advertising will receive an immediate timeout or ban.
Advertisers receive additional perks beyond normal member access.
Moderation & Conduct
This Discord is a community-first space, and common sense applies:
- No threats, hate speech, or harassment — these result in an instant ban.
- 1st Offense: 1-week timeout
- 2nd Offense: 1-month timeout
- 3rd Offense: Permanent ban
