Question about Mail not getting to where it needs to be

Post by Tech9 »

I did a deal with someone on the forum for Confrontation stuff..He does not even live that far from me..Well I got delivery confirmation and all it says is the post office has had the item and its taken about 2 weeks now and still nothing.
This is what it says.

Your item was accepted at 11:31 am on February 23, 2006

What the hell..How long does it take the post office to get something to the other person in the same state?

I called them and they said it takes 14 days to invetagate..Well this is their fault..correct?

if this never gets to its location...Am I am bad trader now?

What steps can I take?

I can't tell by the way you write.... you sent the package, right?

And you're saying the post office has it and it hasn't been delivered to the other guy, right?

If that's the case, and you got delivery confirmation, you're in the clear; not your fault.

Actually, that does not mean the person recieved his package. It goes like this...

Pending
Accepted
En route(not usps)
Delivered

If you read closely, it should say Accepted (by date) and it should list your city. Once he/she recieves the package, the status will change to delivered. Although almost unheard of, the postmaster may have forgotton to scan the confirmation slip after delivery. This would cause the status to not change. However if the other trader says there is no package, it's still being delivered. I doubt it went to the wrong person. I'm guessing there is a 1:999,999,999,999 chance that both of those could happen durring a single delivery. When it is delivered, it will show you what city it was sent to. (well most local post office of the reciever.)

If the status never changes to delivered, you are not at fault. If the delivery location is incorrect, you may or may not be at fault. After all, you wrote the address on the box. Although the postmaster can also missdeliver or for some ungodly reason, the other trader gives you the wrong address. Although if this happens, it usually ends up to the house next door or the right number but the street parallel to yours.

Yes I sent the Package..I got DC and all it says since Feb23 is that the post office has accepted it..But still nothing on the other guys end.
I did how ever make sure I hade the right adress before I gave the package back to the post girl...But the status still has not changed to Delivered and it's starting to scare me.

I dont want this guy to feel he got ripped off..Should I asked him to check his next door or if in Apartment,..His main office..

And even if it got placed at the wrong adress..Shouldnt it say it was Delivered..But I guess not if they did not scan it. :?

Not everyone seems to agree about that. I actually started a thread on this topic 2 weeks ago:

Back on topic, the package may still be in transit, but that's an awful long time for a typical package going within the same state (you didn't use a box with markings for flamable or hazardous on it, did you?). From the sound of it, postal gremlins may have stolen your package. As Alsiaie pointed out, multiple things would have gone wrong for any other scenario.
