Pricing some old Imperial Guard blister packs

Post by DarkTraveler777 »

Hey folks,

I was wondering if I could get some suggestions on pricing for the following blister packs:

1X Cadians at Rest
2X Catachan Mortar Team (metal)

Thanks in advance!

Moved from "Have Questions" forum.
Discussion type threads should be put in the Discussion forum, now.

Ok...

I thought this was a legitimate question. Was it in the phrasing of my post or what?

I can't speak for MM, but here's my answers

Yes it's a legit question and in the past it would have gone where you had put it.
We now have dedicated discussion forums so it now belongs in the new discussion area and the Have questions would be more related to the site (i.e. how do I post a ref?, types of questions)

Hope the above helps,
Dave

In the interest of full disclosure and to cure any curious onlookers, DT777 PMed me.

Here was my response to him:
First:

Please, don't take offense that it was moved. None was intended, and it wasn't done in any sort of punitive manner. While we (Bartertowners) get used to the discussion forums presence, we expect to have plenty of them.

That said, it was moved because it was discussing the value of miniatures and not, specifically, discussing trades. "Trade advice" is more along the lines of questions about trades, themselves (how to deal with receiving something different than promised, slow shippers, scammers, who ships first, etc.).

I *know* it's a very gray area, and we know things could be better defined. We're working on it and, in the end, things will be a lot more clear. Essentially, the "Bartertown Information and Misc Messages" and "Have Questions? Need Help?" are going to become specifically site/tech related threads. Looking for info that's not site specific will be directed elsewhere.

I hope that clears it up, and I appreciate your patience as we kind of iron this out and plod our way through this.

If you still have questions, comments or complaints, please feel free to reply... or, for any other reason, too, really. : ) I'll get back with you ASAP.

Thanks!

Eric

Thanks for the replies. I agree with Eric that things could be better defined (since this is area was not where I would have thought to place my question).

Anyhow, good to know for the future, and I'd still appreciate some insight on how to price these figures for sale/trade.

You should have no problem getting $15 or more for the At-ease Cadians. Couldn't really say for the Catachan Mortars, though; maybe $5~7? It's a bit tricky with the older ones.
A few trade guidlines:
1) If your feedback is significantly lower, I expect you to ship first, even if I'm buying- Money carries greater risks than minis: I can't buy groceries with a box of Tac Marines!
2) Communication is key! I'm a reasonable guy (I try,) so if there's a problem, tell me!
3) I package things well, you should do the same. Protect minis from each other, too.
4) Leave feedback!

the 'at ease' cadians were never actually sold by GW, IIRC. They were like door prizes or something. So the price....whatever someone will pay! I recommend waiting until someone is 'asking' for them in a trade thread. I think you could probably get a better trade out of a ltd ed blister than actually selling them. But 15-20 sounds about right to me too.

I don't understand how these models can be worth so much. I've been in many a gamestore over the past few years and have almost always been able to find these models for sale on the racks or in the clearance bins. Just saying.

@Ironhide.... People get crazy about 'limited edition' models. I have sold at ease cadians for 4 bucks a piece. But I wasn't really trying to get a great price for them, I charged the same amount for metal special weapons at the same event. If you are playing warhammer, at ease cadians are kind of....limited in their gaming use. If you are collecting warhammer, then maybe they have value since they are *limited edition*. supply and demand, I think, will determine the price period.
