We Have a Theif at Hand: Alias Will Dimmers

I made a deal with a forum member on January 4th of this year. He said his name is Will Dimmers and he had emailed me with regards to my post, which can be seen at viewtopic.php?f=12&t=101829. I have edited the post after selling the items to reflect the items still available, however if you click on the link in the post you can see the Empire Army that was stolen.

The only two items from the required list specified by the administrators of this site, which are applicable and required to report a claim on this board were "scanned receipt (USPS, UPS, Fed-Ex, etc.)" and "emails with complete headers" I have posted below the email communication with full headers and I have posted the images of the receipts and tracking slip posted on my web site at http://www.geoginfo.com/rec_pics_bt_scam.jpg. The end result was a personal loss of over $200.00 because the individual has refused to make payment and will not reply to any emails sent to him under the email he contacted me with. He did not comply with what he said in the email and might attempt to rob future patrons of this site if he is not caught or identified. I know that he has the package based on the fact that I received email confirmation that he received the package earlier today. I would not post so soon but he has failed to communicate with me for over 4 days, as I have tried to confirm with him the status of the package on a single account. Just so future people do not get scammed by this individual, the only information that I can provide are his address and his email seen below because his user name was not made available.

i'm sorry to hear about your loss,
however i cannot help but wondeer why you didn't ask for payment prior to shipping, especially since he was going to use paypal anyways?

The reason I did not ask for payment first is because, I have done business like this 7 times so far on this site and all have gone well. Additionally, I should have checked his rating first, however mine is so low because I do not frequent this site often, thus I assumed that he had a high score just like all my other deals. Additionally, my work has a block on this site so I was trying to do it by email so I could sell while I was at work. This was a no no because now we don't have a way of getting his user name. I have already accepted my loss, and am moving on, I just want to make this a safe place for other traders. Therefore, I have posted this information so that possibly others do not get scammed in the future. I have learned my lesson and as a result I will have to move back to ebay to make sure that I always get paid first.

If anyone catches this individual please let me know so perhaps we may all get recompensed.

Ouch.

I would send an e-mail letting him know that if he does not respond to your e-mail in 48 hrs that you will file a mail fraud claim against him.
Have him contact you via PM here as well so that you will know what his user ID is (if he even has one).
Send him a link to this BTR as well so he can comment.

For future reference, always check out your trading partners. If they contact you via e-mail, ask them for an ITL link so that you can check them out.

Any way to get a cleaner version of the emails? I appreciate that you put all the relevant header info etc, but the rest of the code makes it durned hard to read. I ask just ofr my own benefit in trying to decipher what's going on. Also--chronological order is really helpful too.

Additionally, I would have to go down to Florida to serve him the papers personally, it is not guaranteed that he would show up even if I did go down there. Go to his house, break down his window and take my stuff back. I am not a criminal, so I won't do that, thus it looks like I am screwed. So, back to EBAY I go.

There's a lot that isn't right there. First off, as you mailed, you can file in *your* small claims court.

You don't have to serve him - you can use a process server. Law firms do this all the time, usually it's off-duty cops.

If he does not show, you automatically win based on the quality of the evidence that you provide.

Collecting would be more of a problem, though.

Yes filing in small claims is a joke. I have to do it vs a roofing company that went out of business and never filed for a permit or inspection. Now, I'm fined for having a roof installed without the proper permits or inspections.

It seems in Forida, lawyers are the predominent form of life; everyone sues and has to sue, just to accomplish anything. [by law we have to sue OUR OWN insurance company when we get hurt in a car accident just to get payment.]

There is only 1 flgs in that area. I'll try to contact someone who lives that vicinity, and see if/what they know about him.
It's about an 1-1.5 hour drive for me.
