Greeting m8's!

All of you will be in my prayer's for a positive closure to this unhappy situation. Ive been a member of bartertown for several years (rolfy123, but forgot my freaking password after a year of inactivity, ok im old and i forget lol) and was blessed with not being ripped off of money or items. But it just hurts my heart to realize that there are people out there that pray on good people who belive in trust. I'm by no means rich, and every penny i can save by using this wonderful site is a blessing ( and keeps the wife off my back for spending cash on this hobby :) ). So just wanted to add my 2 cents and tell you all to keep up with the good fight, and may G_d bless you all .

Norseman wrote:I am going to close any discusion about opposition to Insidius writing a letter. I would like no furthur comments on it. Opinions have been expressed on both sides and as the spokesman for the "Involved Parties" I agreed with the action and support it.

Again no furthur discussion or comments on the pros or cons of sending a letter to Joesph. The topic is closed. If made, they will be deleted.

It is proving to be an major distraction for what in reality is a non-issue. I am surprised at what something of this miniscule importance has actually aquired an opposition.

Randy
I'm sorry, randy, but you don't have the ability to delete posts in this thread. Only Watchmen, Moderators and Administrators do... and none of them would delete such a message.

I understand what you want out of this thread. there are a couple things you have to keep in mind, however. The first is that, regardless of your desires, anyone can post in this thread. the only way to keep it private is to conduct it via PM. Second is that, though you might see someone as being negative, those "negative" comments can help you. If for no other reason, they could end up warning you of something you hadn't thought of. Pay attention to the nay-sayers. Sometimes, you can still pick up something valuable from them.

To everyone, I would like to reiterate: The OP has requested that any discussion on the pro's and con's of writing a letter be discontinued. It would be rude to disregard his request.

To the OP, for the record, if they choose to continue, you can't stop it. It's on topic and not improper.

Yes I know I do not have that ability I was relying on someone else to do it, at my request.

I have dedicated alot of time to this, and did not want this thread to deteriorate to a flame war like the last one.

First words of this thread:
Ok guys I am making a new Thread because the other one just became a flame fest. Please use that one to discuss the pros and cons and encouragment to take more descive action.

I would invite any mods to help with the pruning of none related messages.
I am trying to manage this thread as best as I can with the limited access to mod abilities that I have.

I expected full support from the mods in trying to keep this thread as clean and free of arguements as they could. This thread is not for discussion from the gallery. This is for Involved parties and the mods.

If I overstepped the bounds or am in error as to the way things work. I apologize. In life I am management and am used to things working a certain way.

Well, here's what I can tell you.

You DO have my full support in this effort. I know you are trying to get your OWN stuff back, too... but I also know you don't HAVE to be trying to help everyeon else (even if it DOES help you to help them).
Anyone who knows my history with Painter6479, or looks up my most recent thread on him, knows that I have first hand experience in doing something VERY SIMILAR to what you're attmepting here. I know what a headache it is. I know how much the nay-sayers suck out of you when they pipe up.

You haven't over-stepped any bounds, so have nothing to be concerned about. My last post was meant strictly in an informative manner.

I can guarantee you that, if I see any arguing, I'll definitely do something about it. I won't, however, stifle anyone from expressing opinions or not. Site rules allow the "gallery" to post their opinions all they want. There's no getting around it, really.

According to the_trader's own statements, there are between 6 and 11 more, sadly.

Ok,

I've called and filed the complaint via phone.

$30 isn't much but it's another stick on the fire under his feet.

Thanks again for all the work on this all, I've also PM'd Norse with my transaction info as well.

Just an update.

Lisa Bartle has not yet read the email I sent her. She has another week to log in and read it before it's automatically deleted. I will not be sending another.

Hey, I also did a deal with the_trader that he obviously didn't follow through on. I guess I should have read this forum before sending the money.

Luckily for me the amount of money was very small, just $5 for some scout shotgun bitz. Here's the PMs if you need proof.

Oh... hmm, I'm from New York, so I think shipping might be a bit more... if you're still willing to send them out for $4 including shipping, I'll pay you with paypal money. Do you still want to?

No man, sorry no legs... even if I did, all my bitz are at home (I'm at college now), so I wouldn't be able to send them.

As for a price... how about $4 for the three including shipping? Sound good? As of now I only have cash, I hope $4 is enough for you to actually care about sending them out lol... my brother might have some paypal money he could give you instead, if you're prefer.

i have the scout shotguns you was after

----------------------
I was a little suspicious when he said the package was on route before I even PMed him an address, but figured he could have gotten it from paypal. I haven't pursued any action yet, I don't think $5 is worth it, but I would love to see this guy brought to justice.

Someone is going to pop in and say this so ill go ahead and save the trouble.

It sucks you were ripped off by the_trader. Yep you should have read this forum. And yep, its a good thing you were ripped for only 5 bucks.

BUT

You need to post the exact stuff you posted above in your own bad trader thread.

Paypal complaint was resolved:

"After careful review, we have determined that the seller is at fault but
regret to inform you that we were unable to recover any funds from the
seller's account."

Which we all knew, but I am in line if they ever get anything from him.

@Tok: If you really want justice against this guy do the following....
1) Post a BTR in the correct forum.
2) Look at the 2 links in insidius' signature above and file a report.
3) There is an earlier post in this thread with a number (and I believe a link) for his local police department. File a report with them also.

Regardless of the amount, he has still committed fraud and the more complaints made against him will put more pressure on the authorities to do something about this.

I'll emphasize it as well.

Rallying against this guy and pooling your efforts is the best thing you can do. Period.

I would have never got my stuff back from scammers if I hadn't done exactly what Norseman is trying to do and compile a case of everyone's evidence before approaching the authorities. If I had just went with my own accusations, nothing would have been done.

But by taking part in the action against him, and showing the authorities that this guy is more or less a threat to society and this is not an isolated, one time crime, they will basically be forced to take action because of the scale of his actions.

One $30 theft is nothing to them (and rightly so), but a dozen or more international mail fraud cases perpetrated by the same person within a short span of time is and should be a big deal.

Keep on him and keep patient. File your police reports if you haven't already. Don't just do it for yourself, do it for the rest of the gaming community as well. This guy WILL do it again if he gets away with it this time. They always do.
