One of the many facets of a bigger problem. It is hogwash of course, people have been buying in one place and selling in another since the first caravans crossed the trade routes in ancient times. We can add it to the ever-growing list of measures, policies, laws & directives meant to control and regulate a Free Market Economy that we've experienced in the last 70 years, especially resurgent in the last four. Time cannot pass fast enough, and I'll stop right there.
None of these things are VITAL, this is a HOBBY. A hobby we enjoy, but still, a HOBBY.
Lower rating ships or pays 1st, myself included. Used to be more flexible; but was burned in recent months by a few newbies. If 200+ feedback w/no negs and 10+ years member is not enough to be trusted, well, like I said - none of this is VITAL.

I feel like this is Wiley realizing they've been stupid and going after someone who made a lot of money off of them. Upholding the ruling would cripple a lot of areas of the economy. And it would be incredibly difficult for companies to track down and get money from everyone who sells their products second hand. If upheld, I imagine it would just become a tool to hit people that make tons of money off of second hand sales (like this kid from Thailand), and it would also shut down or completely alter sites like eBay and half.com (owned by eBay, I believe). And as someone else said, what of something that's "Made" in America, but contains parts manufactured overseas? Aren't all "American" cars really Asian parts cobbled together in Detroit?
Sadly, with how tight-fisted GW is concerning the interwebs, I wouldn't be shocked if their lawyer hounds get loosed to shut down sites like this, and trading boards on major forums like Dakka and Warseer. Obviously they won't be able to do much about in-person transactions, but it could have a severe impact on us Btowners. Of course, Privateer stuff would still be okay.

Exactly, given how GW stooped to hitting online retailers I would not be surprised if they pounce on the potential ruling.Sadly, with how tight-fisted GW is concerning the interwebs, I wouldn't be shocked if their lawyer hounds get loosed to shut down sites like this, and trading boards on major forums like Dakka and Warseer. Also, I'm not sure what other people are looking at, but this is exactly what the free market does - maximize profit at the expense of all else. To me this is a failure of IP laws if anything.

I don't think anything will ultimately come of it. Video game companies have been trying for years to get a cut of the secondary market built up by places like GameStop. Recently the video game companies have been getting savvy with their one time use codes in new products to unlock content. It makes second hand copies less attractive. I don't think the miniature industry could really adopt that model though as there's really nothing they could force on a second hand buyer as far as supporting purchases. I suppose they could put tickets or something in new product and you could collect enough of those tickets to get free, rare swag. Kind of like GW used to do with the Skullz program.
