I am a fan of non shiny metals since shiny makes no sense in a world that is constantly at war. Unless you polished your armour every single day and during combat. Same thing with anything else really. Gloss should be kept to shiny objects, wet (or slimy) objects and leather (and in some cases even not leather if it is meant to look worn).

So yeah, dull. LOL

Posterize layer? No, it's just a white piece of paper, taken with my cell phone. :)

I love painting monsters and beasts.
Here is a Jabberslythe for my Beastmen army. I've been picking up some of the models that I'm guessing will be OPP soon; with the advent of AoS.

I picture it as a predator in a swamp, thus the colors and textured base.
I hate finecast. His front legs/arms didn't line up with the bases pieces. Even bending/reshaping didn't move them enough. The base actually has a warp in it from the reshaping.
The base has liguid green stuff and 2 texture paints, stirling mud and the green on it. There's nurgles rot on the tail and blood for the blood god on the tongue and tusks.

with flash. [the sun went behind a cloud and the auto flash, flashed.]

without flash.

Liquid Green stuff and texture paints on and under the rotted log. I didn't like the plain, smooth texture of the model.

5 points I believe.
Heh, I was called a Grognard. ;-)

I haven't done up lightbox pictures of these models yet but here are some models to show I am still alive and painting lol. I will probably do better pics this weekend.

40 Zombies
30 Ghouls

This was a new painting style for me. I wanted to do a very gritty look and so I totally took inspiration from another member here and his painting style (as well as a gent on another forum) and applied it in my own way. I think they turned out very well. I based them on round bases because A) they look better and B) AoS whoohoo! The red based one is the champ, that way you can clearly see where he is on the board. Zombies however get no champ so no red base for them. The only airbrush work was the base coat since I wanted the base coat to be clean and even on the entire model (that and I did a little shading on the bottoms), everything else is paintbrush work - and man did it really push my paintbrush work!

I am currently finishing up 30 Skeletons and 10 dogs but I will post those pics later when they are done done.

70 points!

Holy crap. 70 points? I'd have to actually finish what I've started this year for that. And I was just about to start a black dragon....

Put on some music, make yourself a delicious pot of tea and let the night take you away! Secret ninja ritual of painting

If all goes well for me this week I will have another 60 some points by the weekend :D

I said it before and I'll say it again, E3, you're a painting machine. I love the style you went for, really pops on the battlefield! 70 points added.

On my end, I've finished my second unit of stormcast, here they are:

For 10 points.

Thanks hapotte. Your Stormcast look great.

I have my own Stormcast waiting for paint but alas I have to greenstuff some spots. Silly considering it is plastic. Especially on the dude on mount. One thing I am not impressed with is how half of his model is on the mount model so is going to make painting rough.

That and I haven't decided on a colour scheme yet, so who knows. I was thinking green accents on an old gold look, kind of like the ones you painted (your gold). The moment they were released I thought of the gold dudes in Immortal, love that movie.

Yes it's best painting him in 2 parts, the dragon with the riders leg and the top part of the lord. I'm getting there slowly with vacations and all.

Can't wait to see your stormcast though, gold and green should look great.
