I can give you some advice.. not the best maybe, but what has worked for me.

I LOVE my Big Mek with KFF. Walking with Kans or riding in a Battlewagon.. he has saved my bacon so many times.. I don't leave home without him.

I ALSO love Burnas in Battlewagons. There is nothing quite like rolling up next to some Fire Warriors or IG blobs, laying down a template and multiplying by 12.. 96 wounds is glorious.. the FIRST time. Afterwards, the opponents target that battlewagon with everything..

I tend to run my Big Mek with KFF in a wagon NEXT to the Burna Wagon, so if the burnabattlewagon pops, I don't lose the KFF.

I am building a Dakkajet now, and I plan to run him with my Deffcoptas. I run 2 koptas, though ... both with saws, for anti-tank work. In smaller point games, I use squads of coptas with TL big Shootas.. for a suprising number of anti-infantry hits.
2+2=5 for sufficiently large values of 2.

If you don't have your Location listed in your User Control Panel, why not take a second and update it? It will let your trading partners know where you are from the beginning.

I use the Unofficial Porkuslime Trading Guidelines - if you have way less refs.. you ship first.

Folks I am awaiting a ref from.. Zack

Hi There,

Any orks players around? i kind need advice for several things:
i'm looking for an army where everything mive fast...
My favorite type of Ork army.
HQ
-i'll be using Wazdakka as my first HQ, would it be wise to put a second warlord or a Big mek with kustom force field (riding in a battle wagon)?
Warboss on bike. Trick him out.
Troop
-bikes in troops, so 3x6 bikes, 3x3 bikes or 2x9 bikes?
-Nobs on bike took a punch with the new ed. still worth the points?
With what you have listed, these are both illegal troop choices. You have to have a Warboss on bike for this. Wazdakka is a Big Mek, not a Warboss.
I like Waz. Keep him if you have the points, but take the Warboss, too.

I haven't played thm in 6e yet, but I don't see how they took a punch.
They can't be one-shotted by Las Cannons any more.
If The unit receives a challenge, just deny. You'll lose one of your PK Nobs' attacks - probably Waz or the Warboss, if one's attached to the unit- but the WHOLE UNIT still gets to fight... and I'm sure you'll have plenty of Klaws in the unit. Yes?

Just keep your more sacrificial models on the outside.

Elite:
-burnas in a battlewagon? yes or no, i like the idea, but got no idea how they perform? it looks decent on paper...
It's FAR better on paper than in play. No player worth his salt is going to let you near him. He'll do everything he can to pop that Wagon.
It's GREAT when you can pull it off, though.

Fast attack:
-Wartrakks or Deff koptas?
-2 dakka jets?
Dakka Jets look great on paper. Haven't seen them in use yet.
Koptas over Trakks, IMO.
Heavy suppport:
-3x battlewagon with deffrolla in which i put the boyz.
-like the idea of looted basilisks...as well but not that much speed freaks
Wagons are more expensive than trukks, but sturdier.
If you're just trying to get there fast, you might consider keeping the bikes as fast, mostly, and overloading on trukk boys. It's easier to pop 3 Wagons coming at you than 6 Trukks. Also, you get twice as many Klaws this way.
Plus, if you move @ top speed with the Trukk, you're almost where you want to be when they kill it.
IMO, it's a matter or preference.

here's a first shot for a list, 1850 pts

HQ:
-Wazdakka

Troops:
-6 bikes
.Nob
.klaw
.bosspole

.Trukk

-10 Boys

.bosspole
.Trukk

-10 Boyz
.Nob
.klaw

Elite:
-12 burnas
.3 meks with kustom blasta

Fast Attack:
-DakkaJet
.xtra shoot
.Ace fighter
.red paint job

-3 Deffkopta
.2 rokkits
.1 buzzsaw

Heavy support
-Battewagon
.deffrolla
.red paint job
.4 big shootas

then either:

3 wartrakks with rokkits and red paint
or
looted boomgun

73 models and 5/6/8 vehicules...

the 2 10 boys units mob up and ride in the battlewagon, the burnas go into the trukk

Note, I responded as I read the PM, so read everything below.
HQ:
-Wazdakka

Troops:
-6 bikes
.Nob
.klaw
.bosspole

-6 bikes
.Nob
.klaw
.bosspole
Waz isn't a Warboss. He does not allow you to take Bikes as Infantry. You can only take bikes as fast, and that would give you 4x Fast choices.
-12 Boys
.Nob
.klaw
.bosspole
.Trukk
.red paint job

-12 Boys
.Nob
.klaw
.bosspole
.Trukk
.red paint job

-10 Boys
.Nob
.klaw
.bosspole
.Trukk
.red paint job
Myself, I'd never take a trukk without a ram. It's bad enough that they're so fragile and explodey, but if they're your promary way of getting your army across the table, then you don't want them getting stuck in the mudd when you fail a dangerous terrain test.
-10 Boyz
.Nob
.klaw
Walking?
Unless you're keeping them 100% out of sight and using them to contest/claim objectives, it's a waste of points. They're fragile on foot in small numbers. Also, as soon as you lose 1 model, they're no longer fearless.

Elite:
-12 burnas
.3 meks with kustom blasta
Myself, I prefer the Burnas and Lootas over Meks.
Fast Attack:
-DakkaJet
.xtra shoot
.Ace fighter
.red paint job
Having finally had the chance to go over the stats, I think this is the only ork flyer worth taking (IMO).
-3 Deffkopta
.2 rokkits
.1 buzzsaw
I'm not a fan of the buzzsaw, over all.
Heavy support
-Battewagon
.deffrolla
.red paint job
.4 big shootas
Burnas, I presume? Myself, I'd stick with 2 Big Shootas, unless you're trying to spend extra points. That's just me, though.

then either:
3 wartrakks with rokkits and red paint
or
looted boomgun
Of the 2, I'd go with the Rokkits. Looted vehicles blow, now.

the 2 10 boys units mob up and ride in the battlewagon,
Nope. Only one unit can go in a vehicle, and Orks lost all their abilities for Mobs like they had in previous editions.
the burnas go into the trukk
These would have to go in the BWagon, due to the above.

I suggest getting a codex, if you don't already have it, or reading it over before making any other choices.

Hi Eric,

i do have the codex (actually missing only Waaargh! orks)

couple of notes after re-reading:
- Wazdakka allows you to take warbikers as troop, not Nob Bikers. if i wanted to have 1 unit of bike nobs and bikes as troop, i'll need Waz AND a warboss
-Good point for RAM, i probably goes for it
-i can put the burna in a trukk as long as i make them jump in first movement phase and that they are deployed close enough to it (6 to move in, 12 crusing speed, 12 in flat out).
-i do need to reconsider my troop choices though...
-you're right for the dakka jet, the 2 others are more expensive and note as fun
-so burnas in wagon...

i'll continue to think about it. the allies rules might be fun to do Speed freaks + bad moons and a way to get 3 HQ and 2 Nobs unit in troops....

I don't have my codex handy now, and was doing the earlier post from work.
My bad, then. As Waz is only a Big Mek, I didn't think he was allowed that. My bad on that.
-Good point for RAM, i probably goes for it
I never take a trukk without it.
-i can put the burna in a trukk as long as i make them jump in first movement phase and that they are deployed close enough to it (6 to move in, 12 crusing speed, 12 in flat out).
Yes. You CAN... IMO, I just don't know that you WANT to.
-i do need to reconsider my troop choices though...
MY preference is tons of trukk boys. I try to take a minimum of 4 units. There are some who swear by boys on foot, too, though.
-you're right for the dakka jet, the 2 others are more expensive and note as fun
That was my take on it.
-so burnas in wagon...
I like this but, without a KFF big Mek, you're only going to get to use them as you intend if you get lucky, in my experience.

i'll continue to think about it. the allies rules might be fun to do Speed freaks + bad moons and a way to get 3 HQ and 2 Nobs unit in troops....
I've barely touched the new rules.
Are you taking 3 HQ because the allies rules allow you, or because you're taking enough points to use 2 FOC?
I don't think, aside from fluff, there's really a need to ally in order to mix the two. For the extra HQ, though... : )

Used a fully upgraded dakkajet the other day, with the 6E rules. I decided I need a second, and possibly a third.

The 9 S6 twin linked BS3 attacks cored a ravager the turn it came on the board, then cored a raider the next turn, before finally moving off the table. Against anything light, it can easily pay for itself. And with how flyers work, the turn it comes on the board, you can pick your target to shoot, and actually shoot at it. The thing is actually well protected while off the board.......

Sooooo crap i did during my vacations..
DUST:
Started to play Dust Tactics with my son, pretty good game and the possibility are endless, the simple fact that you are free to choose whatever you want for the mission (within the points limitations) offer variability that board games don't necessarily offer. We want through all the 8 missions twice from the original core set and enjoyed it a lot, the game system is fast to learn and easy to play without being to simple. Cooperation between units works well too. Definitively a good game, we're both eager to start Dust Warfare... I started to paint the Axis models as well, and was suprised of the quality of the primer as well as the sculpt. The story line is not new but interessing enough, i got the comic book and enjoyed it (Dust War is the collection of all 3 comic books plus more illustrations)

Space Hulk:
i had the 3rd edition sitting on a shelf since its released, i played both previous edition in my young time and it was quite a lot of fun to play it again. My son beat me twice already with the marines and the learning curve is not that though, we'll finish all 12 missions anytime soon and that will be all. But i was a great experience for me being able to connect with my son playing a game i played younger.

Infinity:
got love again for the game, i played PanO during the first era of the game, was fun but then moved and couldn't find players around. i sitll think it is the most complete skirmish game available currently, it's tactical and doesn't forgive if you do a mistake. I picked up some models recently (last year or so and painted them). My friend Nicolas who happens to be aslo a multiple painting contest winner and freelancer for Dust Studio is going to paint my models as what i do not have is time and the JSA models are so nice.

40k:
As most of us, i went through the rules, i like a lot, a real lot, i quickly put down the book as i received all 3 RT ork books around the same time, so i had other reading to do. The big news for me is not the 6th ed. but the fact that FW is releasing Horus Heresy books, as all armies i built in the last 4 years were pre-heresy oriented, i now have an official set of rules to actually play them. The Iron Hands army is fully built but i need to accelerate the painting, so far i have only 2 vehicules and 12 marines painted, that will be my main focus for the next year or so. Depending on the release, i'll be tempted by building an ally force of Emperor Children...

and that's all for now

Cheers

Army selection is obviously too ponderous and random for straight wargaming, but to establish character and individuality, they can't be beat. I love the art, the goofiness, the backplates--everything.
