I've always wondered, do HIGH dollar items ever sell?
I cant tell you how many times I've seen "lots" that the seller wont break up and he is asking $500+ for them.
Also, painted armies for $1000+
Anyone ever buy one of those? or sell one?
I'm just curious, I mainly impulse buy here, rarely spending over $100.

I know i dont as I could never afford to drop that much at one time, but Ive seen lots sell, so someone out there must be willing.

I have never gone for the big lots either. Just to much money to loose at one time. Although I do buy lots at 250$ and at max 300$ish. I was just inquiring about a VC army, and the guy wanted $1000! Now, I understand where he was coming from, but like Tordeck said, that's alot of money to lay down at one time. Maybe some people just have thousands of dollars just lying around.... but I sure don't!

I think the most I've spent on this site in one go was about $400, and traded up to about $600, I don't see myself going much higher than that. I do see those sized lots come up from time to time, and they seem to disappear, so they've got to be going somewhere.
Do I owe you a trade ref? Remind me- sometimes I forget!

I've traded armies in the $600 range, but I'm not a huge money spender or seller, so I've never seen that much dough.

Same here, trades I can understand. I have done some monster model trades, but not so with money.

I have traded armies as much as $1200 worth... but the most I have ever spent or received I think is $300 cash (paypal)

The largest lot I've sold was in the $350 range, I've hit that range a time or two beyond that. I have traded a painted lot for ~$500 worth of stuff in my favor.
Please let me know if I forget to leave you feedback!

Re: I've always wondered, do HIGH dollar items ever sell?
The largest trades/sales I usually see on here for myself are in the 300-500 range. Most of those are for new models that folks are starting a good sized army.
If I'm going to spend $1000+ on an army, I can get it customized exactly how I want it. Hit up the painters section here if you're going to spend that kind of money.
There are a couple of superb ebay painter shops out of Asia that have armies that I might spend $1000+ on, but they really have to catch my eye. For the record, I've never ordered an entire army from one of them.

I'm with the majority. The biggest lot I've done for cash (buying or selling) was around $400. Trading has gone up to around $900.

Re: I've always wondered, do HIGH dollar items ever sell?
I might be in the minority here but I've definitely done a few $300+ buys and I did a $700 trade for store credit once. I think the real trick to those lots is value. When a guy says he's selling a large lot of table top painted stuff he better be asking 50% of retail or less and it better be close to what people want to play.
I'm also incredibly patient, which helps alot in waiting for someone to realize their stuff is not worth what they think.
Bue in short, there are some people on here with the cash to spend, but if you're not giving them a steal they aren't gonna bite.
You can get 30% off GW NIB with free/cheap shipping if you know someone, and spending that kind of money... you can make a friend easy. So a deal on here has to be beating that and then some to be worth riskinging a trade that might go south, minis in various states of assembly, and the risk of shipping assembled/painted minis.

Re: I've always wondered, do HIGH dollar items ever sell?
I've bought one army for close to $500 here, and sold one for about the same amount. The sale was kind of a special case, since I could actually meet them in person. I've had a couple of trades that were probably close to $1k in MSRP as well.
Most of my trades and purchases are a lot smaller though.

Re: I've always wondered, do HIGH dollar items ever sell?
I had a trade a couple of years back in the area of $1200 MSRP each side. I've bought stuff up to about $200, and had one sale of around $300. But most fall well below that. Hopefully I'll be able to post a sale or trade in the $600 value soon.
Edited to add: In the $1200 trade, it was a local guy, and we just met up to make the swap. But we didn't know each other before BT.

Highest individual SALE I've done here is $325.
Highest purchase I've made is $538.
Highest actual TRADE... :shrugs: Probably not more than a couple hundred bucks.
