Probably similiar to no pm, updated topic email notice.

I frequent another site that uses the same software. I have no problems with them.

Not the program but the programers.

Our programmers work hard to keep the site running as best the phpbb software will let them. If you've got any ideas, we're all ears.
I can tell you the email notification thing's not due to programming. I use aol (can you find something crappier? LOL) and experience no issue what-so-ever receiving notices. The recent issue was explained and is not related to program or programmers.

Well, a little OT, but I did find this cool info about BT:

http://www.neatstat.com/www.bartertown.com

Actually, the Milwaukee Time Lords posted their own info (10 yrs old, worth $95, 8 daily unique visitors) - on their FB page, and I just typed in BoLS, BT, and a few other sites I like.

Admins, feel free to delete this if I'm violating a TOS or something, but I didn't think it did. I think it makes a good case for gladly being a Bartertown Plus member. lol. By the by, how do we find out when our contributions need to be reupped?

Per BT's Unofficial Rules - Lower Rating Ships First (except!)
Bad or Neutral References - Sorry, but you ship first REGARDLESS of your Rating.

Usually, if you're buying from me, You Pay first, I ship. BUT (!) I am definately open to discuss it.

Apparently I'm having BT connection issues. If you haven't heard from me in a 48 hour period of time and I don't answer a PM here, please email me at scribe.hereticus@gmail.com.

Nah. No kind of TOS violation.
I found it interesting, myself.

As for BT+ memberships, we're working on that. Rudi and Adam are hammering out the details while the Admin and Mod staff work out the addition of some new features for everyone and even more for just BT+ members. more will come as we have it. For now, just hold onto your wallet and enjoy the (currently) free ride. ; )

If it's not a programing issue, how com another site, that uses the same software doesn't have a problem?

Sugestion, contact the admins at www/peginc.com/forum .

Do you know what version of the software they are using or what MODs? Every MOD that is added to the base software has to be done by hand, and there's no guarantee that two will work well together.
Also, are they using the same host service as us? Almost every problem we've had in the last few years have been the fault of whatever hosting service we were using at the time.
In this case, though, it was a problem with Google. They mistakenly listed us as being infected. When we looked, found no issue, and brought it up to them, they investigated and removed us.
Plarz wrote:For whatever reason, Google flagged us as having malware.

As soon as this was brought to my attention, I contacted our host and had them run a scan. They found absolutely nothing.

I contacted Google, gave them this information, and asked them for a review of the site. They've since dropped the issue, and we are no longer flagged as having malware.

I know what the problem was.

I pissed off Google accidently.

A while ago, when we had someone bombarding the website (and crashing the server) I turned off the permissions for the search engine crawler bots. Search engines have bots that crawl through the forum, logging all the information, so when you throw in a query, they have the information they need to answer it, At the time, I had no idea what was bombarding the website, so I turned off the bot permissions, hoping to alleviate some of the server's load.

I forgot to turn them back on. And since I wasn't allowing the Google Overlords access to the website, they thought we'd gotten a virus. (Because who in their right minds wouldn't want to allow the Google Overlords to read everything on their website...)

Since we've now confirmed and proven that we're virus free - and now that I've turned back on the bot permissions, the Google Overlords are now happy with allowing us to continue our meager existence.

Sorry about the scare - the Google Overlords didn't come with a User's Manual, so I'm shooting from the hip.

Cheers,
- Plarzoid
