What happened

Just went into the memberlist and did a search for total posts and there are some problems that aren't a big deal, but could mean that something else is wrong. People who joined today already show as having 10,000 posts.

I know its fruity, but I have been working hard to get into the top-25 by participating in discussions and the like, but now I am way down in the 40s again.

HELP!!!

Nah, not a big deal, but I know how little things like that can lead to bigger things down the road.

In my trades, I use total posts as a lose guide for some decisions. If that number isn't correct, then it messes things up.

No worries, though. I know Adam will get it fixed.

Actually, we've integrated the user database from warhammer40k.com and Adam has reinstated their post counts.

For that matter, we've pretty much assimilated Warhammer40k.com. It's Morlock's baby and he's the site admin Overlord over there.

That's nice and all, but still not indicitave of what those people have done here on Bartertown. Now I am sure they are all nice people, but with all the new people added in, we have no real proof whether they are "honest" people or not. As stated by Magikal, I like to use the total number of posts as a reference point. I won't be able to do that now, increasing my chances of having a poor trade.

Any chance of that being changed? I hate to see total posts on a discussion site being used as a frame of reference for a trading site.

I kinda agree with you E. It kind of sucks for the idea of post count spilling over, but I guess it means all of us have to be more careful in trading.
I didn't know that was Morlocks baby, becasue the site is kind of cool.

Well, that's all well and good... but, when I do a memberlist search and sort by post count, all of the names on the first page have a zero as their total posts.

What caused that?
personally, I don't really care what rating I am, as far as top 10, 20 or whatever... I'm just curious why the top people have a "0" post count.

You need to change the order from ascending to descending before you click sort. That will show those with the highest post count first, otherwise it shows those with the lowest post count first.

Their post counts are more than legit... in fact the Warhammer 40k.com community has been around for just about the same amount of time as the original Bartertown. Not the 2003 upgrade but the original from 6 years ago. I know I have been a Btown member since 1999 but of course it only says 2003 here... but that's all well and good IMO.

Most of the users from 40k.com aren't traders. The reason why they show up is because Adam and I have joined Btown and 40k.com as one big site. Adam and I are resetting their post counts as to their 40k.com user names. We were trying to get the user info to just move over but it turned out that it wasn't compatible and as such we had to ask all of the 900+ active users of 40k.com to resign up.

The post counts shouldn't be that big of a deal regardless of trading or not trading. Sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause, but I would just stick to the ITL and not post count.
