loading time for this site (slow)

Post by whatsnext »

I've noticed that this site takes forever to load from page to page, backspace, ect. .
I've deleted board cookies over and over again but 3 clicks later the 5 to 15 second or more wait kicks in again. (The little green loading bar moves slower than cold honey)

This is the only website recently that is doing this. Its very maddening to keep waiting everytime i just want to look.

i noticed also neither windows or mcafee delete cookies anymore is this related? Anything at all?

-EDIT-
Since i've posted the sites been pretty good with the get up and go. Been on for something like an hour or two since and its fine now. Just a few 2-4 second bumps here and there.

I'm going to assume that you are running IE8. If this is indeed true then you may need to enable compatibility mode.
Don't know for sure, but when I switched my IE8 entirely over to Compatibility mode alot of my little quirks that showed up dissapeared.

I've had some trouble with the site myself over the last day or two. I'm using Firefox.

It has either not loaded, or gone a little twitchy (lost posts etc). Or timed out.

Could be on my end. Interested to see if there is anyone else out there, I guess....

I've had all of the above for the last copule days; bith with IE8 and IE7.
I've had another HD crash and reformatted, and haven't upgraded to IE8.

It seems to depend on how many people are online and on the specific forum you're on.

If you don't have your Location listed in your User Control Panel, why not take a second and update it? It will let your trading partners know where you are from the beginning.

I forgot to add;
I have 2 guesses as to why;
1 either the servers are overloaded, or bogged down due to the weather.

or

2 bots or viruses are lagging the boards. I know there are t least 3 bots on here at most times from google/yahoo or whoever at any one time. ou can see them listed at the botom of the page.

Add me onto the slow train. I also get one that says the site isn't working, especially when using my inbox. I'm using Google Chrome, which is usually very fast.

I'm on the latest version of Firefox, and Btown has been slow lately.

It took me over 30 minutes and about 10 or 15 tries to send 4 PMs yesterday.

That has been my only real issue - PM's.
At times, I am unable to even get INTO my inbox.

I am asking Lin to look into it and/or get with Adam over it. It's something above my level.

Basic site loading, etc. has not been a problem (IE7 at home IE6 at work).

I use Safari and I have absolutely zero issues except with my PM box. It takes forever to load and send PMs.

2+2=5 for sufficiently large values of 2.

If you don't have your Location listed in your User Control Panel, why not take a second and update it? It will let your trading partners know where you are from the beginning.

I use the Unofficial Porkuslime Trading Guidelines - if you have way less refs.. you ship first.

I've noticed long load times sometimes but I've just gotten used to it. After a while it just doesn't bother you any more. Much.
LOOK OUT FOR THAT HAMMER!!!!!!

1. Less refs you'll probably have to ship first,
2. Please pm me even if a simple no. I will always try to do the same for you
3. PLEASE tell me what edition your warhammer stuff is! If you say you have a model and don't specify people assume you mean a seven edition. Not a worthless fourth edition.
