Yah know cynon when I first got here, I specifically made it a personal rule of mine to ONLY trade with people who had like 60+ trade rep here until I got my own rep up significantly as it was my own way of ensuring that even if I shipped first I was more then likely going to what I wanted....

It really took a lot of the stress off the trade TBH. Now that I am up there a little, I have no qualms about asking people with lower ratings to ship/pay first as I feel it's part of the vetting process...

BTW, are you BOTH in the US, or...?

They are both in the USA. The seller in question has a rating of 6 (3 good trades).

I know this because I was next in line for the lot. And Cynon PM'ed me some information because he knew I was interested too.

Apparently, another trader has jumped the line because they can do a face to face trade. I don't mind. I figure that I wasn't going to get the lot either because there was NO way I was going to send money first.

It is a sizable sum, so I can see where the seller was wary.

I hope that sheds some light on the subject.

That is the same thing I did... Hmm... I take that back... At FIRST, I set the level at "20." After having 2 less than optimal experiences in a row, however, I raised the bar to 50... and I haven't looked back.

I think that one tactic is one of the BEST tools in a traders arsenal for (a) ensuring decent trades, (b) keeping from being scammed and (c) deciding to stick around for a while.
