Re: 2009 Fantasy Battle Scene Conversion Contest Entries
Here is my Orc vs. Dark Elf Lord. I will try to get more photos later. For the conversions, I took a 6th edition cold one and cut off the head and used the metal head of Melekiths dragon. For the orc, I used the arm of a marauder so that he is stabbing down on the beast as he is pulled into his mouth. The right hand has been severed already and is lying on the rock. (It is hard to see. I'm a gamer, not a photographer)
For Malekith, I turned his sword arm to be more out from his body as to be striking a blow instead of stuck to his leg.

Lower rating, you ship first. I always leave feedback, appreciate the same in return.
Better to be judged by 12 than to be carried by 6.

Orc vs Empire:
The Orc:
The Empire (used body of gunner the spear and shield of the spearman from the 4th edition box set...and arms and head from an old militiaman box:
First I cleaned the orc, sniped off both arms and the swords. I then cleaned the spear cut it in three parts and dug a little spot out in the stomach, and stuck the middle part in. Next I did the same on the other side and stuck the other end coming out using snips of spruce to simulate bone shooting out.
I then used green stuff to mold the arms back on to look like he was going for the spear in his stomach, and also used green stuff to remodel the handles on the sniped swords that would go on the ground at the end.
Next I sniped off the head of the rifleman, and glued on the militiaman head using green stuff to make a small neckerchief to hide the mold lines. then tied it in the back.
I then molded the militiaman arms back on to get my pose and glued the base of the spear in his hands.
Finally I shaved the front lion of the shield off so that it was smooth.
I think proceed to paint both models, leaving the shield for last and once finished I painted the shield up with picture that made me think of Kislev.
I then took an old showcase base I had laying around and painted it white putting in white flock so that when it dried it looked like a fresh powdery snow on the ground. I then put in tuffs of grass coming through and glued my models to the base. I dripped in a bright red wash to simulate fresh blood on the snow and dropped the painted sword in last in what I considered a suitable distance that the orc might toss them when a spear goes through his gullet....
This is the final product...forgive the cruddy camera.
It was quick and tells a story...
Hope you like it

Voting is now closed for the contest. I want to thank Crestion du Sable and bluemeenie for their entries.
There will be another contest soon. The only thing I am going to disclose about it now is that it is futuristic in nature.
