Zombie Apocalypse Wedding Cake Toppers

Post by gardenninja »

One of the projects that I did a while ago was to convert a pair of cake toppers into apocalyptic figures (one was a zombie, and the other was a survivor in a gas mask).

This time, my client wanted a bride and groom fighting off the zombie horde (the clothing in this diorama matches theirs).

So, here they are:

Okay... whoever ordered this... They are seriously awesome!
Excellent job on the painting, too.

Did you do all the conversions, or just the painting?

If you did the conversions, too, I'm going to start the rallying cry for WIP pics and details!!!!

I did the whole thing, from start to finish. I even picked up the original cake toppers that I started out with.

I have some Work In Progress pics, but I'm not sure that the rally cry for them is loud enough for me to hear just yet...

(I'll get them up soon).

Not loud enough?

Let's see what I can do about that.

Okay, folks. If you're reading this message and are interested to see the WIP pics, let him hear it!
(Fingers crossed that the lurkers speak up)

Also... very nice job all around. I can't wait to see the finished product in relation to how they started out.

Alright, well, I've got something for you then.

The bride's base started out as this:

Image

That's fairly similar to where they ended up- just a few alterations.

Now, the Groom and his zombie started out like this:

If you're having trouble imagining all of those changes, here's a photo of the green. You can see the extent to which these were altered.

Yep, just a lot of good old fashioned green stuff, some good sculpting tools and some plasticard can turn a dancing couple into a soon to be decapitation.

This is seriously awesome.
Thanks for posting it.

So, on the groom... is his lower torso all greenstuff, or is the detail just sculpted over his pre-existing legs?

The groom had better behave himself- his new wife is choosing to strangle the zombie when she has a perfectly good ranged weapon handy :)
Awesome work!
Looking forward to more project pics....

See, now I just saw it more as her pushing him away, while she brought the shotgun up to ready position.
What *I* think the groom needs to worry about is the fact that she seems to be doing it all with a SMILE ON HER FACE!
LOL

A little bit of both, actually. I liked the pose of the legs, but the trousers he was wearing were way too bulky to simply sculpt over. So I took a dremel tool to them, and carved out what his legs would have looked like under there- essentially creating an armature for them. So his leg pose is still the same as it was when he was dancing, he's just wearing a kilt now.
