Shadowhorn Satyr

Post by gardenninja »

This is a Shadowhorn Satyr that I painted for the P3 Grandmasters competition at Gencon.

Overall, I liked the Shadowhorn mini, he has the dynamic musculature that I really love from Jason Hendricks' work. However, I felt that the original pose made it hard to see his face, so I reposed his head and hands. Quite a bit of his neck is green stuff.

He was awarded a silver medal.

...and a well deserved Silver, at that.

Spectacular work, man. Absolutely incredible!

This is a MUCH better pose. The original looks like a 4 year old kid throwing a temper tantrum.

But, like Eric said, the mini is wonderful.

Thanks.

Yeah, I was a little frustrated at the sculpt for its pose. The sculpting details are absolutely wonderful, but with his arms posed the way they were, you really couldn't figure out what he was doing. On top of that, the pose gave the mini almost no good angles for viewing (which is why people didn't like this mini when it was announced, but mostly stopped hating it when it was released).
